Mkt/421 Week 4 Reflection

* A positioning statement for the company with careful consideration of their brand and strategy

The past few weeks have been filled with successes. Comparatively this week may seem slow or wearisome but don't go looking for trouble. If you control your ego and temper things will start to look up soon.

Some of the important things that I learned during my GSW 1110 course was that I needed to learn how to format my papers correctly, how to write in a clear/concise way, and also how to begin my papers with strong thesis statements. At the beginning of this semester, I set goals that I wanted to achieve throughout my GSW 1110 class. Those goals were, to learn more about beginning and ending my paragraphs with strong statements, how to defeat writer’s block, and staying on topic throughout my paper. I feel that I have achieved the goals that I set for myself. I have become better at all the things I was having problems with like placing my commas in the write places and focusing on my paper by not letting things distract me.

The challenges of solving this problem include meeting the mandate of the Board of Director’s and presenting a solution that senior leadership feels comfortable with. Classic’s Board of Director’s requires a 15% cost reduction over the next 18 months. Chief Executive Officer Amanda Miller and Chief Financial Officer Catherine Simpson challenged the team to improve the Classic Rewards membership and usage without discounting airfare. The team must stick to the 15% cost reduction and cannot fund the marketing solution with dollars allocated for fuel hedging. In addition, General Counsel Benjamin Sutcliffe reminds the team that union contracts must not be revised to fund the marketing plan. Finding the root cause of the problem should reduce the scope of the solution.

Unlike last week when I did not really have any challenge. I have encountered a lot of challenges this week. Some of them are: my bike gets stolen, balancing my life, taking care of myself, and saying “no” to an invitation. I believe that saying “no” to an invitation is one of my biggest problem. I can represent my ethnicity (Abel 2017) with my nationality that I am Egyptian, Christian, and I know how to speak 3 languages (Arabic, French, and English). These things have affected my life positively. For example, when I came to the United States, there were many friends who were interested to know about me and my country. Also, it affects negatively because at a time that I was trying to find a job that I like and it was on a factory, they someone came and told me that they didn’t accept me because they needed a boy to work in this position of a job, because you might carry stuff and boys are stronger than girls. I feel this week was very beneficial to me as well as to my business career. I think the information was helpful and made me understand things better. I was unaware of some of the terms in the book, but learned them. This week was smoother than the first week. I thought the first week has been the toughest so far. I feel I am doing well in the course, but I will continue to do better on my assignments.

As I have worked through each week, i have deepened my knowledge more than I anticipated. I learned that I had no clue what I was doing in spreadsheet previously but I sure winged it. Now, I am much more confident and am already applying some of the tools, such as centering and merging cells, adding different formulas and adding or deleting a footer. In future, I would like to build my confidence in creating and converting charts. Also, look forward to becoming more familiar with Powerpoint this week as I answer the remaining week five questions.

This week, I was able to help with a wound dressing change and I was able to see and assess an infected pressure ulcer.

Over the course of the week I have seen a countless amount of advertisements. From the subway to the back of my textbooks, there was no space left ad-less. One of the advertisements that stood out to me was on Buzzfeed. The ad blended in with each quiz I took. At a glance, one would believe that the ads was a question on the quiz, but once they’d click the answer the sponsored ad reveals it’s true content.

This week was has been very productive for me. I’ve started to add resources and activities to my curriculum map and my research for my finding presentation is ongoing. I feel I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am aware of what I want to put in my curriculum map and things are starting to come together. I feel really good about my progress this week.

It has been 3 weeks since my last weekly reflection so I have had a lot of time to get some great work done. I have: made videos, Designed an Apple TV mount for the schools classrooms walls, cleaned up websites for teachers, written an app review, worked on a class project called Digital literacy and finally I have been working on my ILE. (individual learning endeavor)

Examining my Work, Play, Fit and Push planner for this week I started off pretty strong. Tuesday came and I slacked off a little because I started feeling sick on Monday afternoon and felt even worse Tuesday, so I got preoccupied on trying to feel better and didn’t work on the schedule I planned, besides doing homework and going to my final critique. Wednesday I felt better so I was able to focus on the schedule again, reorganizing my room as well as my bathroom. I want to be strict on myself following today since being sick kind of threw me off schedule and got me unmotivated. For the rest of the week Friday through Sunday I’m going to try to follow the schedule I have picked out since its little more laid back than the rest of the days. Besides the let back of not feeling the greatest I would say this week went pretty well and I can still finish strong this weekend following my plan.
