My Leadership Style Analysis

Being a leader is an important position to fulfill because not everyone carries leadership qualities. In order to become a good leader, this person must obtain specific qualities which should come to them naturally. However every good leader still needs to work on their qualities to become an even greater leader which may require a long time of work. Being a good leader can be hard because not everyone is going to agree with the decisions being made. Every good leader should have certain qualities that will help them succeed in every situation. A good leader should qualities such as being passionate and motivated in everything they do, to have patience when working with others, and to be fearless.

Every leader is different and does things in a unique way that seperates them from their group. Some will take action immediately and others will take the time to think about a decision. There is no right or wrong approach as long as they keep in mind of who they are leading and what they are doing. Leaders are there to guide and motivate people, take control of a situation when no one else will, coach others and so much more. They know how to take risks and explore, they seek continous improvement and build great teams. When solving a

When it comes to contemporary leadership one size does not fit all. Contemporary leadership is a melting pot of theories, approaches, models, and styles that helps an individual lead a group or people or an organization. The trait theory is one example. It has its roots in leadership theory that suggested that certain people were born with special traits that made them great leaders (Northouse, 2013). Next is the skills approach which puts emphasis on the skills and competencies of the leader. Then there is the style approach which is strikingly different from the trait and skill approaches to leadership because the style approach focuses on what leaders do rather than who leaders are (Northouse, 2013). Leadership according to Andy is far beyond simply being a person who is responsible for an organisation. Employees working in the Organisation should be able to follow in the right direction. The style of leadership he uses is reliant on the current situation. He describes himself as a team leader and uses a participative type of leadership (McCrea, 2002, p.11). In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.

Leadership style is designed according to a pioneer 's behaviors, which is enveloped under behaviorist theory. Inside of this class, distinctive examples of leadership behavior are watched and classified as leadership styles. In their work, each supervisor uses a set of specific methods to influence his/her subordinates. The term "style" is characterized as a specific approach of a leader for solving problems and guiding human individuals and teams. It derives from the Greek word "stŷlos,” which translated means "character/style”, i.e., the individual style is unique. The term has significant meaningful wealth and is widely used both in science and in the various fields of human practice (every person - style of life). In next few pages I will describe my leadership style using theory and personal opinion, and I will define advantages, disadvantages and in which way I want to develop my own style.

One valuable tool I have learned to use that helps me be a good leader is the website Out of the Box Coaching™ and Breakthroughs with the Enneagram by Mary R. Bast, Ph.D. 2005 she describes nine leadership styles and the faults and descriptions and as well as development skill.

In order to evaluate and reflect on my own leadership practices and style, I completed the Seven HabitsⓇ Profile to shine a light on my current status. Initially I will review the document and my results. I will then evaluate my leadership practices, strengths, weaknesses, recommendations for success, discuss S.M.A.R.T. goals and end with some final thoughts.

A leader is not someone who dictates or makes up rules; a true leader is someone that is on a never ending process of self study, education, and training to become a better person and help others achieve a common goal. Developing good leadership skills does take practice and a great deal of time, it does not just happen from one day to another. Good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their leadership skills. It is good to be a leader, but it’s even better to be a leader everybody wants to follow and admire.
