or so many years our society has been thinking of forming new creative and innovative businesses, which would be more environmental and customer friendly. Nowadays a large number of different companies follow the social, ethical, as well as moral consequences when it comes to their decision making. Many of us apply this approach not only at work, but also in everyday life without even recognizing.

An example of a socially responsible company is Burt’s Bees. Burt’s Bees has gone above and beyond to promote socially responsibility not only by providing natural products and assuring customers that no harm was done to the animals involved but by sponsoring and donating to foundations that have the same want for world-wide well being.

New Belgium Brewing and Anheuser-Bush InBev are both great beer companies which have positive corporate social responsibility. They all believe that social responsibility is the one of the most important mission of the business at this time.

Corporate Social Responsibility are actions taken by a corporation that have positive and lasting impact for all stakeholders associated with the organization, seeking to strike a balance between profits and helping to establish lasting investment in the community (Carrol, 2015). In the 1980’s, then President Reagan challenged the business community to take on more responsibility to address social problems (Carrol, 2015). Socially responsible actions can benefit local communities as well as the greater societal good.

New Belgium’s social responsibility seems to be its most important cornerstone and a strategy of focus for the company. Corporate social responsibility (CSR)—company actions that advance social good beyond that which is required by law continues to draw interest from practitioners and academics alike (Charles, K., Germann, F., & Grewal, R. (2016). The company focuses a lot on being socially responsible. Not when it comes to making beer also in the communities that they are in. The New Belgium Brewing Company does thing like donate its used barley to local farm to use a pig food for free. The company also donated more than $2.5 million to philanthropic causes through grant programs. In addition helping out the community the company is environmentally

With that being said, corporate social responsibility is a way for companies to benefit themselves while also benefiting society. It allows companies to take small steps to make big differences in areas of need. Some may say that it is a bunch of “greenwashing” – the deceptive use of green marketing that promotes a misleading perception that a company’s policies, practices, products or services are environmentally friendly – but there is a call to action that inspires a company to get involved in the community (Kewalramani, Sobelsohn).

I believe NBB’s focus of social responsibility does provide an advantage for the company. I think that it will give their company a good name and ultimately save them money due to their philanthropic efforts. Proven more now than ever, many people are seeking to buy products that in some way give back to another important cause and NBB has had this approach since its origin. Having the target market of, “Beer connoisseurs that appreciate the high quality of NBB’s products, as well as the company’s environment and ethical business practices,” points out how this has been a major contributor to how quickly success for the company has came over the years. NBB doesn’t just specifically focus on the social responsibility of their consumers but they also focus on their employees.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is something that affects all companies and should be an active factor in the company’s decision making. It is something all corporations need to care about. CSR is when business’ or corporations take part in an initiative or campaign for a cause that will benefit society and/or in some way make the world a better place (Taylor, 2015). Initially, Corporate Social Responsibility started to take shape around the 1950’s, but some say that it dates all the way back to the 1800s, the idea of CSR was seen (Carroll, 2007). One may think that because it is dated so long ago, it doesn’t have an important impact today nevertheless, it is proven that Corporate Social Responsibility is a pathway for entities to self benefit as they are in the process of benefitting society.
