There are tons of non-profit organizations that have made tremendous changes in our world but are these organizations providing the essentials people need? The Human Rights Watch Organization is a coordination that was made to make the international world a more efficient place it was created by Helsinki Watch to help defend and protect human rights as well as give voice to the oppressed and hold oppressors accountable for their crimes. According to their website (hrw.org) this organization has helped strengthened the rights of children, women, refugees and migrant workers as well as bring up topics such as domestic violence, rape, war crime and many more to help people know more about what rights they attain. It is wise to contribute time or money to this nonprofit organization because as a human being that loves freedom and equality this organization provides the essentials needed to help people attain their rights internationally and it’s great that it was developed by people who voluntarily signed up to help achieve change for …show more content…
I would fully incourage people I know to get involved because this organization throughout the years has made extreme differences on people's lives. The goals and promises of the organization to preserve and secure the rights of the people are clearly exposed; they often attempt to make changes through campaigns and programs. The organization is set to be extremely congenial with their campaigns because they've been able to make differences with them without having to break any law. A very efficient program they developed was the Human Rights Watch program devoted to human rights and health it was based on HIV’s and AID’s. This association has provided many great programs for citizens all over the world and their goals have been clearly accomplished with great

"The United States (US) has the unique record of having the largest sector of Non-Profit Organizations (NPO) in the world, comprising of over one million NPOs" (Yallapragada, Roe, & Toma 2010).The purpose of this paper is to gather, analyze, and formulate data in order to understand, evaluate, and make a conscious decision. Today, as it stands the world is only growing more and more technologically involved in every aspect of everyday life. Children as young two or three years of age have the capability to open and close, manipulate, and surf the web through any given technological median (Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, and Smartphones). Given that fact, it would only be fitting that K-12 education take a turn towards the technological emersion. It is in this area where the unsaid organization 's true brilliance comes to shine.
The NCAA is a non-profit organization that organizes and executes college sports, which includes football, basketball, etc. Key word from the previous sentence would be “non-profit organization”. What kind of “non-profit organization” makes as much money as they do? The NCAA players bring in great revenue with their outstanding efforts in bringing their team up to the top, because that is what the fans like to watch. Now does it seem fair that the NCAA does not give the players back any money at all to the players that actually bring the money in? In simple terms the NCAA makes large amounts of profits and needs to start distributing some of the money to the players (History of College Basketball, 2013). According to another article, the
There exists many international NGOs that perform exceptional and critical work on behalf of human rights issues. Many like Amnesty International and Oxfam provide much needed support and assistance to individuals and groups internationally. One such internationally recognized NGO is the International Alliance for Women. It was founded in 1904 and its mission is to "promote women's human rights around the world, focusing particularly on empowerment of women and development issues and more broadly on gender equality" (womenalliance.org). In my opinion at the core of this organization is the inalienable rights of women, that is "full and equal enjoyment of human rights is due to all women and girls". For decades women have fought to be regarded
Grand Junction, Colorado is a town in Western Colorado that has taken steps to excel in the health care field by providing cost effective and efficient care to their community. In lecture this week, we have learned that the key system concepts are: shared vision, shared reality, people, parts, interrelationships, leverage, adaptability and iterative learning.1 The article: Grand Junction, Colorado: A Health Community That Works, is an example of a patient-centered medical home that currently exists in the United States, and should be looked at as a possible solution to our current health care overspending crisis. I believe that the health care provided in Grand Junction, Colorado has excelled in all these concepts and will discuss their
There's three things that I know: 1. I want to travel and help others 2. I want a career that allows me to forget about my income and focus on my impact 3. I want to start or greatly contribute to a non-profit organization. Traveling will always be an extremely important aspect of my life. Ironically, I have never been outside the United States, but I know that experiencing other cultures can greatly affect someone's life. For that reason, I hope to be apart of an organization that provides opportunities for the less fortunate to travel. An organization that could bring kids who lack funds from 3rd World countries to 1st World countries, providing them with work or education. Vice versa, 1st World kids leaving their social media behind to traveling
There are many non-governmental organizations that fight to protect human rights such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Global Rights. One you may not have heard of is Refugees International. According to their website (refugeesinternational.org), Refugees International focuses on bringing aid to displaced citizens and helps to bring attention to the problems that have caused the displacement. Refugees International was originally formed in 1979 for the purpose of assisting Indochinese refugee's. Now they assist refugees from all over the world by looking out for their best interest and ensuring their safety. They do this by having workers in the field observe the treatment and care of refugees who have been displaced for various reasons including war and conflict. They do not take any government funding, solely depending on donations (Refugees International, n.d.).
Any facility or organization needs to have a structure in order to function effectively. I found two nonprofit hospitals just an hour apart from each other. The first hospital is Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH) a 61-bed not-for-profit community hospital located in southeastern Vermont with a mission to provide community-based quality health services delivered with compassion and respect (BMH, n.d., para. 1-2). I have not found an organizational chart in their website, however, BMH is governed by bylaws and a volunteer board of directors in which according to Yoder-Wise (2015) coincides with the definition for private non-profit organizations. That said, the board of directors provides their expertise to make decisions on the overall governance
In today’s world there are hundreds of thousands of non-profit organizations (NPOs) established at the local, regional, national and international level, and their influence is increasing. Non-profit organizations even considered the third sector of the economy (the first two is the public and private, or commercial). It is believed that they have a special role in development of civil society. In those countries, which have largely shaped the system of legislative regulation of the sector (USA, UK, Australia, etc); the state spends huge sums on research programs in the field of standardization of the NPO.
There used to be a time when zoos used to be full of animals. A time when extinction was not a problem. That was the past. Today, zoos all around the world are missing many animals such as the African elephant or the dodo bird. All of these wonderful animals became extinct because we were careless enough to let them all die. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an organization that is trying to prevent extinction from happening. WWF is an environmental organization dedicated to “protecting the world’s wildlife and wetlands” ("World Wildlife Fund"). It is one of the largest private supported conservation organizations in the world, with support from one million members in just the United States. WWF was formed on September 11, 1961 in Morges,
Besides these international organizations there are many NGOs, Non-governmental organizations, which include: Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the International Service for Human Rights look for and examine possible rights violations around the world. Combined these two forces, the IOs and NGOs, provide the world’s policing force against human rights violations and ensure that all of humanity is treated equally.
World Vision, founded in the USA in 1950 by a young pastor Robert Pierce, is one of the largest relief and development organizations in the world whose total revenue coming grants, product and foreign donations is about $2.6 billion.
One non governmental organization that deals with human rights issues is Amnesty International. I have chosen this organization because it is found in many countries of the world. There have been many problems throughout the world that included torture, illegal arrests and abuse of police and army powers. Many people were killed and some disappeared. Amnesty international was involved in campaigning against such human rights abuses.
