North Carolina And South Carolina

I will compare and contrast three colonies, Virginia, South Carolina, and Massachusetts, to demonstrate that the motivations of the colonists determined their success.

North and South Carolina were one colony until 1729. Carolina was named to honor Charles IX of France and then Charles I and Charles II of England. Carolina is rooted in Latin and comes from the word Caroliinus. This word is derived from the name Carolus, translated as "Charles." The North Carolina was a colony which has few nicknames like the Old North State. In 1729, Carolina was divided into northern and southern sections. "The Old North State" is a reference to the northern section. The stadehood date of this colony is november 21, 1789.

At home, my parents taught me the Nigerian way of life. I ate Nigerian food and learned about Nigerian history, and I also tried to learn the language of Nigeria, Yoruba, with limited success. However, at school, I was immersed in the American way of life. I ate American food, such as hot dogs or cheeseburgers at school instead of the Nigerian food, I ate at home and I learned about US history instead of Nigerian history. After living in California for a year, we moved to Texas, where I was exposed to the Southern culture. After a year in Texas, I was already saying "Y'all" and I had adopted some of the Southern traditions, such as being very respectful and using “Ma’am” and “Sir” when talking to

In 1629 King Charles decided to make England a colony. In 1729 north and South Carolina a colony. The colony's were taken over by the King and started to be a colony. The first settlement was Charles Town’s. England was one of the colonies.

There were many different early American colonies.The settlers in these colonies came from many different places such as; England, France, Spain, and The Netherlands. Also, the settlers in these colonies settled for many different reasons. The New England, Middle, and Southern colonies developed a different way of life because of differences in aspects of life such as; government, religion, and geography.

Throughout American history, the south and the north have consistently held different beliefs on how to handle some subjects. Whether it ranged from slavery, to taxing, or to business, southerners and northerners often seemed to be on opposite sides of the spectrum. It was not any different back in the 1800’s. Though intensely different, they were still part of the same country. One of the biggest issues that made the north and the south so distinct from one another was their view and perspective on slavery. The north, who was considered mostly republican, saw slavery as something that needed to be abolished for it was a great sin committed by mankind; while the south, who were mostly considered democrats, viewed it as a necessity for they considered African-Americans a race that needed to be controlled because they were less intelligent than the white man but very violent and because they were “built” for the hard labor. Over the 1800’s they had been a tension built between the two sides of the country. The tension rose to a boiling point when the 1860 election rolled around. After the elections occurred, a chain of events followed which would leave a lasting impact on the current United States. In the heart of these events was the civil war. To this day, it is very debatable that the war started because of the unsure future of slavery under new leadership.

Post-Civil War North Carolina, as a part of the “New South”, was supposed to be an economically and morally prosperous state that was no longer reliant on slave labor. Unfortunately, the abolition of slavery did not abolish the misfortune of black and white North Carolinians alike before 1900. Racism was still very much alive, blacks did not enjoy the rights they supposedly acquired after the war, the same rich families from before the war were still rich, and the people that were poor before the war were still struggling.

There were many differences between the Northern and Southern part of Carolina. The Northern part had completely different geographic features then the southern part of Carolina. For instance the Northern part grew Tobacco, which was a cash crop for them, because the land and climate were just right for growing tobacco. In the southern part of the colony they grow rice, which they used as a staple crop which is a crop that many people can use to support themselves on they grew it. Rice also known as Carolina gold became a prosperous crop because of the African slaves. They knew how to flood fields to grow it and how to plant it. Also Northern part of Carolina was mainly made up of Virginian settlers. The settlers

People could live in the same country but still have a language barrier, this could be because they may be from a different region. For example: Britain i.e. Bristol, Essex or Glasgow. People from a different region may use the same word but can have a different meaning known as “slang”. When talking to someone, we must use the correct intonation (gestures and body language) so that others know that we are friendly towards them and show that we’re listening.

The three English colonies were known as: New England, Southern, and the Middle colonies. The colonies developed because economic and political institutions in the colonies were either typically European or distinctively American. Climate, soil conditions, and other natural resources shaped regional economic development in all the colonies. New England colonies made big profits from trade. The Middle Colonies had large cities and excellent harbors along the coasts. The merchants who lived in these growing cities exported cash crops, especially grain, and imported manufactured goods. Because of its enormous trade, Philadelphia was the fastest growing city throughout the colonies. The Southern colonies grew into prosperous colonies that made large profits based on cash crops such as tobacco, indigo dye, and rice. The Southern colonies were known for their high slave population and highly irregular social class distribution.

North Carolina is a state in the Southeastern United States. North Carolina is the 10th most populous of the 50 Cumulated States. North Carolina is kenned as the Tar Heel State .North Carolina is divided into 100 counties. North Carolina 's has two most immensely colossal metropolitan areas: Raleigh, its capital and Charlotte.

In May of 1787, individuals from each state assembled in Philadelphia, to transform the United States government into an effective and powerful nation that conducted affairs in workable ways. The delegates meeting at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 were given consent to alter and revise the Articles of Confederation. Except for those from New Jersey and Virginia, the representatives intended to revise the Articles. The primary issue that they resolved was that of State Representation. William Paterson and his associates offered a list of suggestions for revising the Articles of Confederation in his New Jersey Plan. Paterson, a delegate from New Jersey, supported the weak national government that the Articles made. Paterson declared imbalance of the rights of the small states against the large states and wished to expand upon the Articles making a more representative and all around well-organized government.
