Personal Statement: In My American Dream

Today the American Dream has a very broad meaning. Lots of different people dream for different things. Some people want to own a nice car and others want to have a family, but almost everyone in our society today wants a successful career. For example, everything our nation does while we are in our youth is to prepare us for our future jobs. We do things like attend school for thirteen years to prepare us for more schooling. The additional schooling is supposed to help us with our future jobs. In our society today people are not afraid to go through multiple careers to find the perfect one. What is your dream for america? The american dream is comprised of many things. It is made up of things that make america better. Not only that, it is made up of things that makes us americans. The main points of the american dream is hope for a better nation, Freedom, and diverse opportunities for all that come to america.

First, let's define "American Dream". "American Dream" is what you would consider a "perfect life." It can be full of happiness, money, love, food, cars, whatever you desire, everyone has a different opinion. One person’s American Dream may be totally different from someone else’s, that is what makes us all individuals. My American Dream would include a good job and lots of money, spare time for my family and I, and most importantly, healthiness.

I was born and raised in the United States but my family was not born here, they came from an area south of Los Angeles, Mexico. In the border between the United States and Mexico, many immigrants have lost their lives attempting to achieve their promise dream. Many immigrants who cross the border pursue the American Dream. My family was one of the many immigrant families who attempted and fortunately succeeded in crossing over the border. My father’s family originated from Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. Many families just like mine risked their lives attempting to not only get to the border, but to cross it as well. My family did not differ much from the other immigrant families who sought to achieve economic stability and prosperity here

Although there is no one set dream for everyone, it has still changed over the basis that through time technology has influenced many ideas and ways of thinking. Including the thoughts of the American dream whereas the material goods people think of in their dreams have changed with what’s around today. As seen on social media or online, no two web pages or posts have the same dream. “Personal freedom and having basic needs met top the list.”(cole), this post sees it as individual freedom, while some others may see it as materialistic goods. Overall you can't let other people influence your idea of the American dream because it is what you think of your own life and what you want to perceive it

I am not a bricklayer, but a builder; building upon my parent’s dedication to pursue a better life for themselves and for their children. As the son of a naturalized Arab-American father, whose Palestinian origins show me the meaning of being a minority, and a Palestinian immigrant mother, who inspires me to continue pursuing my aspirations amidst the daunting and unknown road ahead, I endlessly strive to achieve my American dream.

Today the American Dream is a lose term that has almost lost its meaning. However, it still exists as a loosely compiled list of ideals and goals. The dream also changed depending on age. For younger people, it is the dream of getting a college education as well as achieving instant success in life. For college students into mid adulthood it is being able to be debt free, and not needing financial aid. This is accompanied by the ideal of owning a home, some place to call their own. My definition of the “American Dream” means is that everyone should have equal opportunities to success. Everyone should have equal opportunities success no matter what religion, race, skin tone you are because everybody is equal. The American Dream has helped us Americans because without it, people wouldn’t have equal rights as we do today because it the American Dream didn’t exist until 1931. Now that we have it us Americans have equal opportunities to success.

Have you ever heard the phrase “American Dream”? You most probably have, however, have you ever thought what this theory could actually mean and how it is related to your life? They’re many views on what the American dream actually is but to me personally living the American dream goes beyond your place of birth or the documents you have. The American dream is to become successful, to be a master of one’s own destiny and to enjoy the freedom in its greatest manner. Achieving the American Dream has been the ideal for people living in the United States for many decades. People believed that the way to get there was through hard work. The American Dream is represented in many different ways and every person lives and chases a different version of the American Dream.

The smell of junk foods and lit cigarettes in the street plus the mass of technology implied to me that something was odd. Looking around the area, I knew I wasn’t at home anymore.

The American dream is a well-known phrase. Working hard is the key to being blissful and successful. My personal “American Dream” is to be truly prosperous. True happiness for me would include fortunate marriage, my dream career, an impeccable house, and two healthy kids. I heard my aunt say this before and I agree wholeheartedly: “Everything good in life is worth working for”. In order to attain my American dream I have set goals for myself.

I grew up thinking I could do anything that my friends could do, but as I got older I found out that I couldn't do some of the things they can do. While I had friends that would travel out of the country for vacation, I would only go as far as Florida. When I was younger I asked my parents why we couldn’t leave the country like my other friends, they simply responded with "we can't." Since I was a little girl at the time I didn't think too much of the situation and just let it go. When I was 11 I finally found out that the reason behind this was because we’re undocumented and it was very difficult for me to process. When we came to America I was only two so it was practically the only home I knew when I realized that it

As the American dream is defined, a national ideal in which people have a lifelong goal that brings them prosperity, happiness, and or success, it starts with a plan of action that is most commonly taken after high school. For me, my American dream is to major in electrical engineering and to become an engineer at a big corporation so I can make a copious amount of money and be happy. In order for me to complete this mighty achievement, there are many actions I must take.

From all over the world, people immigrate to America for the American Dream: freedom, rights, and limitless opportunities found nowhere else. These individuals are welcomed with a convergence of new ideas such as well settled families, work opportunities, and the chance for a position in society. The collective idea of “the land of opportunities”, inspired my father almost two decades ago to indulge these possibilities, and step foot into the United States of America.

This summer my American dream was fulfilled through the simple things. This summer I was able
