1. Industry Rivalry: -

i. Electric cars have to compete directly with the already established traditional vehicles. Traditional vehicles have created a market for themselves and are also now entering into the electric car business, giving tough competition to the electric vehicle manufacturing companies.

ii. After the success of electric cars in the West, manufacturers from around the globe are entering into this business. With more players in the market, the competition is expected to be intense.

Due to more players entering into the market, the threat of rivalry is very strong.

SWOT Analysis of Electric Car

1. Strengths: -

i. Electricity can be generated from any source of energy which is available in abundance and can be used effectively.

ii. Many of the environmental problems is caused to use of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide. Use of electric vehicle helps in the reduction of these pollutants by a significant amount leading to controlled pollution.

iii. Due to advancement in technology, there has been an increase in emission of pollutants from the vehicles. Electric cars do not produce pollutants which are very important for the cities to stay green and pollution free as the air quality has deteriorated a lot.

2. Weaknesses: -

i. Electric cars cannot be used for long distance trips as the battery may drain easily and charging stations may not be close up causing difficulty.

ii. Using car facilities like air-conditioner, radios, mobile charging facilities may drain the battery very quickly.

iii. Electric cars are heavier due to electric motors, chargers, batteries and controllers.

iv. The components used in the electric vehicles are very costly which makes the car
