For starters, one of the first measures that I would use as a means to intervene with Donovan would be something as simple as a phone call. According to the text, this is something that should be approached with caution, simply because, the client feeling that they are there for a quick fix, become lax, and wait for the clinician to pass judgement (Miller, Forechimes, & Zweben, 2011). With this taken into consideration, I would gradually start to introduce the basic screening questions and set up an appointment time and location so that Donovan and I can meet and get this process started. I feel like with this particular approach it would more than likely provide him with the motivation to participate in the evaluation process. Would you agree? …show more content…
This particular criteria maps out the “pattern of amphetamine-type substance, cocaine, or other stimulant use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by at least two of the criteria occurring within a 12-month period” (DSM V, 2013). Based on that previous statement Donovan would be classified as the perfect candidate under criteria four which is craving, or the strong desire or urge to use the stimulant. The example that I can provide to support this is Donovan deems it necessary to use cocaine in order to complete multiple tasks. Six on the other hand, goes onto to provide clarity that “continued stimulant use despite having persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of the stimulant. To support this theory it has been made known that Donovan and his wife are having issues because of his drug use. Last but not least, there is nine which goes into detail about stimulant use is continued despite knowledge of having persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problem that is likely to have been caused or exacerbated by the stimulant. There is where his hypertension comes into
The definitions have progressed from tolerance or withdrawal symptoms from a specific drug to chronic intoxication, continued use with increased dosage, dependence, and damaging effects to user (Reinarman 2005). Both of these definitions proved to be too restrictive because all drugs do not have the same effects on every user. The current definition used by physicians and the criminal justice system is based on seven criteria (Reinarman 2005). The constant evolution of how the professional world views drug dependence mirrors society’s change in the understanding of addiction. Historically, “the drink” was viewed as the devil and drugs were often thought to be the cause of many criminal acts (Schneider 2003). After the medicalization of addiction and dawn of decriminalization of drug abuse, public opinion of deviant alcohol and drug use has changed. For the family unit, it is much simpler to accept and approach treatment for addiction if it is classified as a medical disease. In society, drug users can be framed as patients instead of criminals based on current standards. By looking at addiction as a treatable set of signs and symptoms instead of holding the individual accountable for actions they committed while intoxicated, the disease concept releases a lot of the stigma that goes along with
Behavior: Mouths (i.e. Rocks, dirt, grass, and leaf’s), giggles uncontrollably, verbally stims, rocks back and forth while sitting.
The writer Paul addresses the Galatians, "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. and he goes on to explain to them, "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead be filled with the Holy Spirit. The scripture also tells us to, "Cast all your anxiety upon him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded and alert. Your advisary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your
I choose scenario B and I would tell my partner that I am sorry but I cannot do that, it is illegal in the state and I can’t put my job on the line for this. I very sorry for what he and his wife are going through but doing this is wrong and there is other ways to get help for her pain. I would also tell him that I would help in any other way but this is not the way to do it and talk to him on what they have and have not done and maybe give him more information on what he has not done so they can go this way and not worry about our jobs being on the line. I would also tell him that I can’t arrest him just for speeding and there would be questions on why I arrested him and soon or later they would figure out what happen. I am not going to fake an arrest for him it’s not fair to anyone and the guy would know that we took the marijuana and turn us in, because they do not play with their drugs and that is another way we can get caught and then if you get caught what will happen to your wife.
It all started when we decided to go on a trip to Oahu on a charter plane. We thought it would be fun, that it would be really cool to climb Diamond Head and go to a luau. Oh boy were we wrong. While we were in the plane, Nathan noticed that the wing was on fire. We all grabbed a parachute and we grabbed a rope, hatchet, dinghy, flint, twelve cans of food, sleeping bags, tent, and a water sack. We all jumped out successfully, one after the other. Nathan jumped first and opened his parachute successfully with the dinghy and flint. I did the same with the tent and water sac. But when Roene jumped out with the canned food and sleeping bag and tried to open her parachute it didn’t open! ROENE WAS FALLING FROM THE SKY AND THERE WAS A CHANCE THAT SHE COULD HAVE

The choices he used to cope with his life events created his disorder. It almost seemed as inevitable for him to avoid this path because the cues that presented themselves were all just factors that amplified his poor mental health outcome. The biological indicator, the alcohol dependence for stress relief, and then the substance abuse that was evoked by the physicians were all measures that built on top of each other. The DSM-V categorizes substance use disorder as a combination of substance abuse and substance dependence. It is said that only two symptoms need to be apparent in order to be diagnosed with the disorder. Mark’s pharmacological effects of tolerance and withdraw of the pain medication are alone enough criteria for the diagnosis. In conclusion, Mark substance use disorder is a cluster oh his behavioral, cognitive, and physiological symptoms which resulted in his continue use of the substances despite the evident

There are a lot of crimes happening around the world. There are some that are solved and the rest is still unresolved as of present times. This is the very reason why people result to getting private investigators, to get the right information for them. They should be able to get the details that are needed to solve the cases that are not resolved. We should also know the credentials of the investigators and the company. They should be licensed by the government above all.
I choose this prompt because it looked as it was the best of the prompts fitting to me. I myself come from several different backgrounds, I also carry a lot of different talents. People like those are very unique and are very productive in diverse community, and they turn to be very productive and effective individuals in their community. The past autumn I applied to the University of Washington, which is one of the high ranking schools in the nation, so I applied to all of their 3 branches, Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma, hoping with my different unique talents and personality I will be accepted and be offered admission to one of the 3 branches. Several months later I am here talking to you, that optimism I had has become a reality, I’ve got accepted into University of Washington Tacoma and I am still hoping I will also get accept into the Bothell branch as well. Being born in Seattle, growing up here and at the same coming from both an African and Arab background is pretty unique, on the other hand being a Muslim and a practicing religious Muslim, was also something fascinating, living in America in this time, where Islamphobia was at its peak. In addition to that, being an individual who is deeply involved in the community, specifically youth affairs at a young age of 17 was very productive I can say. Summing all those qualities and talents, I told myself this will help me achieve a lot of things in the future, being a personally diverse individuals who is both academically and spiritually active and built, and in addition to the a productive young individual for the community was indeed something unique and attractive to schools and jobs in the future.
Which lends to another reason that I can relate to the statement I just presented, in that I’m a kind of person who tends to keep the words of certain emotions I give off to others just by them personally knowing me, and what I can thinking of just by looking at me, but also one that gives to others without them asking for anything in return. For example, I would be the kind of person who would give someone a gift of some sort that would cost a bit of money, and that when it comes to a time when they’re about to return the favor, I would tell them that they wouldn’t have to do so. Another situation that can be somewhat similar to the one previously mentioned is that when it comes to things that have multiple things, such as a bottle of soda,
Your patient voices concern about her upcoming visit. Explain how her memory could be affecting the concern. Also, explain how conditioning can affect attitudes toward healthcare. Describe some major strategies that contribute to memory retention, and give an example of each.
L 3: Suppose that you find a reproducible failure that doesn't look very serious. Describe the four tactics presented in the lecture for testing whether the defect is more serious than it first appeared. As a particular example, suppose that the display got a little corrupted (stray dots on the screen, an unexpected font change, that kind of stuff) in PowerPoint when you drag the scroll bar up and down. Describe four follow-up tests that you would run, one for each of the tactics that you listed above.
