Week four Devotional "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead be filled with the Holy Spirit." (Ephesians 5:18,NLT)
The writer Paul addresses the Galatians, "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. and he goes on to explain to them, "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead be filled with the Holy Spirit. The scripture also tells us to, "Cast all your anxiety upon him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded and alert. And its difficult to be alert and vigilant being under the influence of wine, spirits, or alcohol which distorts and impairs your thoughts and vision. In fact another name for alcoholic beverages is spirits. After being an alcoholic for a little more than half my life nearly 25 plus years, I can honestly say that the Apostle Paul was absolutely correct, it destroys your life and keeps you in a hallucinated state, a total drunken stupor.Trying to drown your sorrows of pain, disappointment, physical and emotional trauma, abuse, set backs, hurt, neglect, rejection and a long list of other sorrows that time will not permit me to write. Not to mention being hung over, hugging a porcelain bowl and hurling until it felt as if my insides would come gushing out of me, a very painful experience and low point in my life. The wedding at Cana was Jesus's first miracle, and to save the host the embracement he told the governor of the feast to go and fetch him the water pots and he turned the water into wine. And the guest replied after they tasted the wine, they said most host usually put the superior wine out first but I see that you saved the best for last. This experience speaks of the superiority of the new wine which was a symbol of
(biblegateway.com) Wine is a recurring subject that is mentioned all throughout the Bible. You can find verses when wine is portrayed as a gift from God or verses that tell you “wine is a mocker and arouses brawling” (Habakkuk 2:15). However Ecclesiastes 9:7 says “Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.” If consuming alcohol was a sin, God could not have approved it because that would have contradicted his character. God truly cannot contradict himself as it says in Numbers 23:19 “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

I choose scenario B and I would tell my partner that I am sorry but I cannot do that, it is illegal in the state and I can’t put my job on the line for this. I very sorry for what he and his wife are going through but doing this is wrong and there is other ways to get help for her pain. I would also tell him that I would help in any other way but this is not the way to do it and talk to him on what they have and have not done and maybe give him more information on what he has not done so they can go this way and not worry about our jobs being on the line. I would also tell him that I can’t arrest him just for speeding and there would be questions on why I arrested him and soon or later they would figure out what happen. I am not going to fake an arrest for him it’s not fair to anyone and the guy would know that we took the marijuana and turn us in, because they do not play with their drugs and that is another way we can get caught and then if you get caught what will happen to your wife.
It all started when we decided to go on a trip to Oahu on a charter plane. We thought it would be fun, that it would be really cool to climb Diamond Head and go to a luau. Oh boy were we wrong. While we were in the plane, Nathan noticed that the wing was on fire. We all grabbed a parachute and we grabbed a rope, hatchet, dinghy, flint, twelve cans of food, sleeping bags, tent, and a water sack. We all jumped out successfully, one after the other. Nathan jumped first and opened his parachute successfully with the dinghy and flint. I did the same with the tent and water sac. But when Roene jumped out with the canned food and sleeping bag and tried to open her parachute it didn’t open! ROENE WAS FALLING FROM THE SKY AND THERE WAS A CHANCE THAT SHE COULD HAVE
Upon doing more research I found a website that names and explains 6 different types of motivation.
Response: “Alan Potter (2014) wrote that John MacArthur warned us that if we lose the biblical foundation while preaching this will lead to the decline of preaching which will contribute to the weakness and worldliness of the church, so for a church to be spiritual healthy, preaching should return to its proper biblical foundation (https://www.linkedin.com). Paul told Timothy that by preaching the Scripture, man and women could be wise for salvation (2 Tim. 3:15 NKJV). They learn the way of salvation through the Bible which the Holy Spirit taught the preacher to use, they should not use their own words dictated by man’s wisdom (1 Corinth. 2: 13

Mark’s psychosocial and biological predisposing vulnerabilities ultimately lead to the increase likelihood of his substance abuse disorder. A disorder he wasn’t aware that he was facing because his intentions for the substance were to merely ease his stressors.
The episode starting with Sam hallucinating that he was in bed with Toni. I believe that Sam would rather endure both his feet being burned then lose control of his mind. When he became lucid you could feel his pain and humiliation at giving Toni any answers. Sam looked so relieved to see Dean alive his entire demeanor changed. When Mary appeared you could see Sam’s surprise and wonder.

Luke 22:20 says “After the meal he took another cup of wine in his hands. He then said, “This is my blood. It is poured out for you, and with it God”. Thus alcohol can be seen through many Christian events in today’s society such as communions. It has also taken on a scared role, as some Christians view it as representative of one of the many gifts God has given us.
Christians should abstain from alcohol because drinking will cause you not to be ready for your spiritual husbands return. Luke 21:34 If you’re not ready for Christs return then you will miss the rapture and have to endure through all of the pain that is left behind after the bride of Christ has been taken. Since intoxication causes immorality Christians should abstain from alcohol. As Christians we want to represent Christ. So that our light may shine brighter and brighter and so we dont bring judgement on ourselves. Immorality is disgusting and as Christs representatives we do not want to misrepresent Him and dishonor his name or our testimonies by drinking. Romans 13:13 Romans 14:21. What will the world think is so different about us if were a bunch of immoral, powerless, intoxicated, people?
Wine was the gateway to shame and greater sin. This can also be seen in Genesis 19:30-36. The two daughters of Lot make him drunk so they can sleep with him. And even nowadays we can understand that by indulging in wine we usually do have a higher probability to trespass the holy law of God.
Throughout centuries the patterns of alcohol use have remained consistent around the world. For the most part alcohol has been used as a beneficial resource. Within religion there is an emphasis that alcohol plays an important role in festivities and rituals within a religion as well as with health benefits. These two ideas continue to influence the patterns related to alcohol use. For starters, amongst the Catholics there is an emphasis on moderate drinking, because it is believed that alcohol is a gift from God, but that excessive drinking that results in intoxication is considered to be a sin (Hanson, p. 7). As well as, some churches use wine during rituals such as during the Holy Communion, and these traditions continue today. Secondly, the Hebrews described alcohol as being full of nourishment, an important aspect to festivities, and as a source of medicine (Hanson, p. 4). Lastly, during the ancient time period alcohol played a role in the religious life of individuals who live in China. Individuals believed that moderate use of alcohol was a gift from heaven. Not only was alcohol an important aspect to religion, but also it was used as a source of inspiration, expressed hospitability, and was used as an antidote to feeling fatigued (Hanson, p. 4).
