Week Two: Write an Introduction to a person important to you in your life by explaining that person's background and relationship to you
Ten years ago I had the pleasure of meeting my friend, Denise. We began our friendship at a time in her life that has proven to be the most difficult she would ever face to date. But, in the midst of such adversity in her life within this time, I have watched her triumph and soar!
You see, I met Denise when at the very time her then spouse abandoned her and their three children, the youngest not even a year old. She was left freightened, alone, and in a state of utter shock. And eventhough she had such a personal war going on in her life, she still showed the utmost compassion for everyone around her. With
My grandmother suffered with thyroid and use to always ask me if I had thyroids. I remember a time when she told me to get a quarter and some iodine to put on my stomach above my navel. She told me if it changed colors that I had thyroids. Also, because I felt so drained most of the time and would swell in my body often, she had me to consult with my physician about the matter. My grandmother was a very intelligent woman that was very health conscience about herself and her family.
In life, people can gain friends quickly, but what no one talks about is that they can lose them just as fast. I learned how quickly a friendship can begin and end about two years ago. In August of 2013 a girl named Moriah Ebron was deemed my best friend. She lived in Delaware while I was all the way in West Virginia. That was a small challenge, but we made it work. We were able to visit each other and have an amazing friendship, but suddenly, something went terribly wrong. Never had I realized how fast friendships can end until I became friends with Moriah Ebron. This is an epic story of friendships and trials as well as love and hate. This is all about how I gained and lost a best friend in the same amount of time, and how that shaped me as a person.
The goal of parole is to reduce recidivism and help rehabilitate offenders. That is not always the case; offenders will reoffend anyways and be sent back to prison to finish out their sentence. There are many programs out there that try to help parolees become a part of the community again and stay out of trouble. The programs are out there; it is up to the parolees to join them and stay committed. The programs goals are to help the offenders reintegrate into society by using procedures and community resources.
Many of you requested more daily eats posts so today I'm coming to you with a new what I ate Wednesday. Remember to always listen to your body and honour your own hunger and satisfaction cues.
Death is an experience that we will all have to encounter at some stage in life, but for those with elderly parents or relatives, the experience becomes more real. “The experience of dying not only affects the person who is dying but also caregivers, family members, and friends who are left behind” (Osterbur, 2015, p. 102 ) and I can associate with that. My maternal grandmother suffered a major stroke and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She died in the hospital 2 years ago. Unfortunately, she was not a recipient of hospice care and the task of caring for her was done at home with the help of a hired aide and family members. Novak (2012), explains that many are faced with the dilemma of institutional death or at home and the decision to prolong care or end treatment can be burdensome (p. 411). It was an uphill battle and emotionally draining for my mom and
To identify, a project idea based on my work and personal life will involve motivating my sister in having a healthier diet. By way of example, I will encourage her in eating more fruits and vegetables to strengthen her immune system and lower her blood pressure. Additionally, motivating her to a healthier eating habit will not only help her wellbeing but strength my abilities as a care provider. Considering that, her diet now consists of high sodium foods such as ramen noodles and fast food, she has been more restless and stressed. Henceforth, this project will build her health and offer her the opportunity to feel more energized, lower blood pressure, and even having more strength to practice walking with her leg braces versus her wheelchair.
There are many factors that can influence a person’s interpretation of a situation. Cultural background, religion, prior experiences, or something as simple as a person’s mood can affect the outlook they have toward situations. Two individuals can witness the same event and have opposite reactions or interpretations of the incident. One instance of this can be illustrated by the observations of interaction between a group of friends and a man who was seemingly down on his luck.
I have gone through the learning requirnments of statistics 200. I also have completed Research Methods 301W along with the rquired citi training. I have advanced with the process of writing and taking information from primary research and secondary research. In the folowing fall semester, I will be conducting my own research. My work is submitted to the IRB and is being processed and will then be performed in my senior year with the aid of my professor. My research is on the influence of learning and how technology affects it. I am excited and know that this is a tremendous opportunity that will help me broaden my knowledge.

Fry Brothers heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. employs Larry Clark and George Murnen to make service calls to repair furnaces and air conditioning units in homes. Tom Fry, the owner, would like to know whether there is a difference in the mean number of service calls they make per day. Assume the population standard deviation for Larry Clark is 1.05 calls per day and 1.23 calls per day for George Murnen. A random sample of 40 days last year showed that Larry Clark made an average of
I would like to introduced Susan G Komen and Nancy Bricker. These two girls are sisters and they are also best friends. Susan got diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33 and lost her battle at the age of 36. Before Susan had passed Nancy had made a promise to Susan that she would end the terrible fight of breast cancer. Nancy her sister said this, “Her journey began with a simple promise to her dying sister, Susan G Komen that would do everything possible to end the shame, pain, fear, and hopelessness caused by this disease.” (Brinker, 2016) Nancy tried her hardest and during that trying period she created a foundation which is called the Susan G Komen Breast cancer foundation. Which was created in memory of her loving sister. Later
“...the strong are the former-weak. They are the ones who persisted when faced with challenge and it is through their struggle that they developed their strength, for they are the ones that continued past the point where many would conceive it to be a respectable amount of effort...Embrace the pain, for without pain, without struggle, without failure there can be no growth, improvement, success, or triumph.” (Francine Henderson) On a warm summer day at a state leadership conference, I met Frankie. At first, we were cordial acquaintances but within days, we connected at an intellectual, spiritual, and emotional level that I had previously never experienced. The mutualistic relationship was founded through a shared love for philosophical, intellectual,
Fifteen-year-old Elizabeth, more often known as Lizzie or Liz dies when she is hit by a taxicab when riding her bicycle to the mall to meet her friend, Zooey. She awakes to find herself on a ship, where she is lying on the bottom bunk, with another girl her age on the top. In the beginning, she thinks she is only dreaming, as she didn’t remember that she was in a car accident, but she soon realises the truth when she is invited to watch her funeral back on earth through telescopes on the ship. She is dead. When the ship reaches the destination, Elsewhere, Liz refuses to get off in her attempts to return back to her old life on earth, though she is found by the captain and is told that staying on the boat will not bring her back. Reluctantly, she disembarks the boat and is taken in by
Rose and I have been best friends for almost nine years. We met at Oak Grove Elementary School in the sixth grade. She is Astonishing! It’s easy to describe her because she is an incredible person who made a positive influence in my life. Rose has transformed me from being stubborn and egocentric into a free spirit individual and showed me how to be even-tempered for the potential life. As I analyze Rose’s journey, she have shown courage, positive qualities during her fight with cancer. It was a tough development to absorb in her toughest moments.
There were moments of distress as well as moments of plenitude; we met people that over time we called classmates, to then call them friends. People that marked our lives and that will surely marked theirs, we have learned something from each one of you, because everyone is different.
