In the United States, getting an education is very important. Children spend thirteen years of their life learning English, history, math, science, and various other subjects so that they may one day be a productive college student or a working class citizen. In fact, “There are 33,619 private schools in the United States, serving 5.4 million PK-12 students. Private schools account for 25 percent of the nation’s schools and enroll 10 percent of all PK-12 students” (“Council for American Private Education”). Parents face many issues when deciding which school is right for their child. However, the factors that determine their choice of a private or public school are often the results of various essentials that closely mirror the parent’s ideology in regards to education. Parents should send their children to a private school because private schools have smaller class sizes, the curriculum is more challenging, and the school environment is much safer than public schools.

There are many types of ways kids acquire an education today; some of these happen to be public and public schools. “Some assume that private schools offer superior everything, justifying their tuition costs” (Great Schools Staff). In that case, people automatically convey the false belief that private schools have a much better form of education. In reality, education in a Public school is highly more advanced and experienced than any particular Private school, because of their social involvements being opened to try new things, accumulating more experience for a smaller cost, and having no limitations nor boundaries that will minimize student’s skills and capabilities.

Since the 1980s, charter schools have allowed families to exercise school choice, a practice that had begun a few decades earlier when parents preferred to control their children’s education because of religious views or racial prejudices. As dissatisfaction with the performance public schools grew during the late 20th century, parents called on government to subsidize an arrangement where children could receive adequate education outside of the traditional public school system. Thus, two major school choice devices emerged: charter schools, privately run schools that receive public funding, and tuition vouchers, which cover some or all of tuition at participating private schools.

Currently, there is a way to avoid a the encompassment of public education; and that is private education. Yet, everything comes at a price and as stated by Amy Witherbee; “... if given the option, and money was no object (tuition, transportation costs, etc.), more than half of the parents questioned would take their children from public schools to the private sector.” Which may seem obvious as most parents would expect the best for their children in education. Another issue, is that private schools;”require tuition and use selective admissions processes, which segregate student populations.”(Witherbee,15). This being another example where education further segregates prospective students based off income. As it is understood, private schools entail costs not present in public education, as shared these costs would cover the tuition fee for attending, and materials, as well as any fees acquired with putting someone in private education. If half of the parents who were asked if they would enlist their child in private schooling, then there obviously some questions that arise about both of the halves. For example, for the parents/guardians, who answered that they would not move their child from public school, already have their children enlisted in a more advantaged public school in a good community. For a long time now our school systems have been pretty straight forward. It was always private schools versus public schools. Usually families with more money are able to send their children to private schools, and if not, children attended public schools.

Education is a very important part of a person’s life. Every parent want the best thing for their children. They want their children to be happy and to be able to achieve their dreams and be what they want to be, which is why they want the best education for their children. Because, almost everyone would agree that being well – educated is the closest way to success life and good future. But, their desire to send their kids to the best school have to face many obstacles. One of these obstacles would be choosing school for their kids. In the U.S., there are three types of school: public school, charter school and private school. Private schools are usually very selective, has better performance than government-funded school and has expensive tuition fee. Rich families would send their kids to private schools because they could afford the expense. However, for a normal family, paying the expense for private schools would be overwhelming. So, there options are narrowed between charter schools and public schools. There have been many debates on whether charter schools or public schools provide students with better education. But, there are obvious evidences that charter schools are generally better than public schools:

The legal system does not view a large difference between private and public schools. Both are treated essentially the same with the obvious exception of prayer in school, the religious teachings in a private school, the private school not being “free”, etc. It was the view of the administrators interviewed that the differences between public and private schools is shrinking due to the litigious society we live in. It is also thought that the differences will begin to become even more minuscule, as the government wants to keep all schools on essentially the same page.

A school is a that place which is designed to provide learning spaces as well as environments for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Schools are the roots of every children in his/her life. With the help of school students grasps wide array of knowledge from school which is beneficial for them in their future. However, some people argue that private schools are better over public school. From my point of view, private school are better because it is enriched with academic opportunities, well qualify staff and extracurricular activities as compared to public School. Hence, I agree with this statement that private schools are better than public schools.

The great philosopher, Plato, once said, “Do not train children to learning by force and harshness, but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.” This statement is so powerful. It is important to consider the individual educational needs of children when determining whether public school or home school is the best academic choice. We live in a country where we are blessed to take a step back and find the fit that suits our children the best.

A good education is an essential part of a child’s development. Today, parents have a choice in their child’s education and can evaluate both public and private schools. Although both public and private schools provide education and opportunities for students, parents should evaluate the differences and choose the option that best suits their child and families’ needs. In this paper, I will compare and contrast five major areas that relate to public and private schools including class size, cost, curriculum, services, and teachers.

Another form of advantage for public school students is the sources of funding. Public schools are funded by federal, state, and local funds. In contrast, private schools receive their main funding support from tuition paid by the parents of the child. This is an awkward contrast, however, since tuition only pays for a portion of the total expenditures of a child's education. Again, private schools are forced to limit their student's academic ability due to another limiting cause, monetary constraints. Public students would never have to worry about this problem since they receive government funding. It would relieve the parents from worrying about the burden of funding their child's education.

As time has gone by, Americans have increasingly paid more attention to the schooling process, trying harder all the time to get the best education possible for their children. As a result, more parents are turning from the public school systems to the private schools. This happens for several reasons. First, students that graduate from private schools tend to be better prepared for college. Second, private schools open up many opportunities to succeed in the business world. Last, the private schools allow the parents and the student to decide which school they feel will give the student the best education possible. Overall, private schools offer a better education for high school students than do public schools.

There are several strengths of school choice. Most families choose public schools for their children because of the free of charge aspect and the wide range of classes offered. Private schools offer curriculum that supports parent’s beliefs and values (School Choice). For example, if a family holds strong Christian beliefs, they might choose to send their children to a private Christian school. Charter schools provide curricular emphasis for children with special academic and vocational interests (School Choice). Some children do not learn well within a typical classroom, so having this option to learn differently might better the overall well being of their child.

Public and private schools are two different types of education a student can get. Many believe private schools are better for students as you have a smaller class size, as well as only people who pay can get in. Private schools require a tuition for students, so not everyone will be able to attend, only those with parents who can afford to give their children a private school education. Public schools are open to everyone, public schools get funding from the government, whereas private schools do not. When funding comes from the Government, problems within public schools can arise. When states do not have enough funding for every school, there are schools that end up suffering.
