Why Quality lab technician?
When I first started to work I started working as a team leader for a company name Medicia Corp. My responsibilities and duties were to supervise all operations of a production line including personnel, from the beginning stage to the final packaging process. That’s how it all began. I acquired a lot of knowledge of what quality control was in the manufacturing field. As life went on I had the opportunity to work for a great company named Shiseido. I started as a Quality Lab Clerk it was more of administrative work environment assisting the quality assurance/ quality control department. My duties and responsibilities as lab clerk were increasing little by little as well my learning skills. I ended up being the Quality lab Technician of QA/QC department. I acquired a lot of experience, and knowledge. Not only did I receive an opportunity, I also expanded my experience skills. In the process I found out what exactly I liked and wanted to pursue as a career. What is Quality Control?
Quality control is the use of techniques and activities to archive and sustain the quality of a product and services. Quality control test and inspect products procedures to ensure that a manufactured product and service defined quality criteria and meets the requirements of customer standards. The National Committee on Quality Assurance set the “gold” standard on health plans and their quality ratings. There was no other regulatory agency to oversee the health plan upon its initiation. Now we have other organizations; however NCQA provides the most stringent, ridged regulatory guidelines of the managed care organizations. In order for a health plan to do business with CMS, or state agencies, and to the public; they must show they meet NCQA guidelines. Health insurance has become a hot button topic with ACA and CMS. The Organization was established to set the tone of quality in the health/managed care environment. There are other governing bodies such as HHHAC for ambulatory centers and dome care URAC another nonprofit organization, who reviews health plan, clinical integration, health care, healthcare accreditation. Also AAAHC accreditation means that a health care organization meets or exceeds nationally-recognized Standards for quality of care and patient safety

Every company provides a provision or has a mission statement that their company stand by, which shows what services that company, will commit to delivering to their clients. We as professionals and them as businesses have an obligation to deliver direct services effectively to help clients adapt socially and effectively in society. Quality assurance continuously proves itself an essential aspect of care in the United States. Quality assurance evaluates the quality of healthcare delivery within an institution. Care given by healthcare professionals is examined and scrutinized.

As employees of an organization we are required to ensure the welfare of the same at all times. Sometimes we see and analyze certain processes carried out and it is understood that there is any way in which these processes can be improved. It happens that we are not prepared to report that such changes are needed for reasons that are varied. There are positions in companies that are responsible for ensuring that all processes, products and services offered comply fully with the expectations of customers. The Quality Management team’s goal will be to continually strive to improve the care their organization delivers. In order for this to be achieved their must goals and objectives to work towards. From its foundation, the organization has been in the forefront of the development of the healthcare system. It has played a very imperative role in the improvement of healthcare. It has been very vocal in elevating the issue of health care to the national agenda. The company seal has always been associated with quality among the healthcare professionals. This means that organizations and individuals who use the seal must have proved to the organization that they are qualified, and they are reputable organizations. In the case of the consumers, the seal is a clear indication that the organization at hand is managed in a better way, and the quality of services that it provides is high. The NCQA has played very critical roles in the managed care. It has helped a lot in promoting the quality of services provided by the managed care organizations. Due to its accreditation and strict emphasis on the quality, the organization has managed to be one of the most reputable organizations that push for quality care as well as continuous improvement in the healthcare services. The organization focuses on developing quality standards and measures that are very applicable in health improvement. All over the years, the institution has raised their bars regarding the improvement of healthcare services.

An example of Quality Control is when an inspector inspects stitching in garment as it comes through the production line. Quality assurance should be number one in patient care, on that note if the medication order is illegible Betty must get clarification from the doctor with a double check of looking in the patients’ medical record. All medication orders are to be entered in the patients’ chart if the physician did this Betty can easily verify the orders from the record. But, before administering the medication, the allied health professional must call the doctor’s answering service to locate the doctor and get advice on how to handle this situation. There’s still one more part of the professional medical triangle who dispensed the drugs, the pharmacist, she can check with the pharmacist also.

The Utilization Management Program of the Naval Hospital Guam facility is one which is designed to ensure that high quality, cost efficient health care is delivered to all members of the community. The system of quality is prevention: This is why management must take the concept of prevention very seriously because it reduces defects and it lowers cost. This absolute state that appraisal, checking and inspection is an expensive and unreliable way of getting quality. Prevention can be achieved if during production process opportunities for error are identified. Prevention can also be achieved using statistical quality control method. Crosby (1995).
Implementation of excellent quality comes with a cost. The company must decide if it is really worth compromising the quality for revenue. If the quality costs exceeds the expected revenue of the company then the company must abandon implementing quality control mechanism. If otherwise, the quality would contribute to the product value and hence the revenue.
