Quality control is a critical concept in every industry and profession. The survival of your job and of your company depends on your ability to produce a quality product or service. For most people, quality is associated with the idea of a product or service that’s well done, looks good, and does its job well. Quality product is one that lasts, holds up well under use, and doesn’t require constant repair. A quality product or service should meet a high standard in many areas, such as form, features, fit and finish, reliability, and usability. As products and services evolve, consumer expectations tend to increase so that yesterday’s quality product becomes tomorrow’s junk. Quality revolves around meeting customer

In quality control terms, conforming means that an item meets customer specifications, and nonconforming means it doesn’t. You inspect your product or service by measuring one or more of its properties and comparing the measurements to customer specifications.
Although inspection can ensure that 100 percent of the products or services delivered to your customers are good, it can be a very expensive process, especially for high-volume, low-value items. Also, inspection is impossible for items where testing can damage the product.
The introduction of a quality control process into an organization can be a major shock to its system. The following components are crucial if you want to lessen the shock and gain acceptance within your organization. Advertise acceptance of the program from important stakeholders within your organization. Communicate the reasons for the change and the benefits it will bring to everyone in the organization. Train employees in the new ways of the organization. You want workers doing the right things consistently because success helps to gain support. Like most other changes, quality control is best introduced in small bits. One way to do this is to create a pilot project that allows you to make a small change to a small part of your process to see the change’s effect. If the results are good, you can implement the change on a wider basis; if the change is bad, you’ve limited the damage done.

In today’s business world, quality management is a key competitive issue. Total Quality Management, involves listening to people, communicating, including the people who do the work in the decision making process. Team managers should have a clear and inspiring goal for the group and should make sure to prominently exhibit the team mission statement on the work space, team web-site, and other office communication. Create an environment in which people are empowered, productive, and happy. I agree with the principles of TQM. The goals of TQM demonstrates appreciation for each person's unique value. Help people feel that they are part of something bigger than themselves and their individual job. Share the most important goals and direction for the group. Listen to learn and ask questions to provide guidance. Help employees feel rewarded and recognized for empowered behavior. Most importantly, it is beneficial for the company to motivate and empower teams and not just the individual.
Quality Control or (QC) for short, is a set of strictly enforced procedures that have been designed to ensure that a product meets the qualtiy requirements of a client on a ongoing basis. Sometimes we see and analyze certain processes carried out and it is understood that there is any way in which these processes can be improved. What most companies do is select a handful of characteristics considered to be important to their customer. They measure those few to ensure that they meet customer requirements. They perform their 100% inspection, and if the product passes it is shipped to the customer. They are very surprised when they get a phone call from the customer that their product ruined the customer 's lot and not only does their customer want their money back but they want to be compensated for the losses as well. At that point the quality manager will retrieve the test results from the product, which shows that the product passed all quality inspection requirements before shipment. The result is lost customers.
Implementation of excellent quality comes with a cost. The company must decide if it is really worth compromising the quality for revenue. If the quality costs exceeds the expected revenue of the company then the company must abandon implementing quality control mechanism. If otherwise, the quality would contribute to the product value and hence the revenue.
