It has been legal to carry a conceal weapon since 2013 when Illinois became the last state to allow concealed weapon permits. After it passed a poll concluded that 52.3% of their population felt less safe after it passed in 2013. According to a 2010 poll over 55% of our population felt less safe when learning that it’s legal to carry in public places.
You have to be a certain kind of person to be able to properly carry and operate without making it obvious or having the risk of an accident. Some states are taking this to lightly. Georgia and Maryland require no training before receiving their concealed permit. In Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming and Vermont you don’t need a permit to legally concealed carry. This should be taken more seriously. I think that every state should force you to get training before having the chance to get a concealed permit. If an uninformed person is carrying

The second amendment supports the right to carry a concealed weapon in public. Responsible citizens should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon to defend themselves against criminals. Getting rid of it would not help us it would just disarm our law abiding citizens. Meanwhile criminals would still have their guns illegally. People get this because they it makes them feel safer when they are out in public. People have are less likely to be attached if they have protection. According to Thomson Reulers 75% of American citizens support law abiding citizens having a concealed carry permit. It is also important because police can’t always protect us. The average police response time is eleven minutes. Some take longer. In Detroit the average police response takes about 45 minutes. Richard Mack (the Sheriff of Arizona) said “police do very little to prevent crime. We invest more after the fact.” The court has also said that the police haven’t help a lot. We shouldn’t outlaw concealed carry because it would disarm our law abiding
The next article i read is about how to correctly carry a concealed weapon. They say that there would be less crime if you didn't know who was carrying or not. This article also offers online training and discounts on guns for people who
As of 2013 concealed gun carry is legal in all 50 states. Illinois was the last state to enact concealed gun carry. In some states people are required to have a permit, and in other states people are allowed “unrestricted carry” and do not need a permit to carry a concealed gun.
But because the second amendment cannot be changed, the Government should focus on controlling gun violence instead of gun control. As soon as people start focusing on how to stop gun violence without taking away guns, the country will see a considerably fast decline of shootings. Many laws have already been made in the 19th and 20th century to try and stop gun violence. It all varies on each state and what laws they have in place as well. In states with low population densities like Alaska and Vermont citizens are allowed to carry a concealed weapon without a permit but at places like Washington, with the highest murder rates in the country, the citizens there cannot even own a handgun. Different states, have different laws, about guns and whether you can conceal or not conceal a weapon with a license. The second amendment protects people the right to own guns for protection and cannot be changed, but laws that are put in place for gun control can take away certain types of guns and where you have access to
The Second Amendment is important because it provides self defense to American citizens. In some states, like Arizona, you can carry a gun around without a permit, if you’re an adult. But if someone wants to have his or hers gun concealed, then they are required to have a permit.”Forty-two states generally require a state-issued permit in order to carry concealed weapons in public (“CCW” permit).” (Hardy, States That Allow Concealed Carry). The 8 other states that allow concealed carry without a permit are Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. But in some form, 7 out of the 8
Each state gets to determine if they will allow concealed weapons. If the state does permit concealed carry then people have to go through a long process before they can receive their concealed weapons permit. A person must first fill out the application, then "State police post the names to a private website for local law enforcement agencies to review and object to if police feel there
Concealed carry has been in news for a while now and is a hot topic. Concealed carry means more guns around us. Those who not paying attention might assume that open concealed carry is something new, something rare, perhaps reckless at best and dangerous at worst, but that is far from the truth. The Daily Caller newspaper states that, “concealed carry is currently legal in 44 states, and in 30 states you don’t need a license to openly carry a holstered pistol.” The norm states that one had to be licensed to hide the licensed gun. Over the years various restrictive gun laws have been created state by state, largely in an effort to suppress the ability of minorities and criminals to carry guns. The ability to lawfully carry a hidden gun became
In the past six months, there have been a total of 19,635 gun incidents. Out of those 19,635 incidents, 107 were mass shootings, 829 were home invasions, and 604 were for defensive use, according to Gunviolencearchive.org. It is unbelievable to see the number of gun related incidents that have happened in just the past six months. What is even more unbelievable to imagine is that so many of those incidents could have been avoided if people were allowed to carry concealed guns in certain places. Concealed carry, or concealed weapons, is the practice of carrying weapons, such as a handgun, in public in a concealed manner. All fifty states in the United States allow concealed carry in public places to some degree. But, some places, for example, schools, restaurants, and stores, prohibit concealed weapons. The controversy about whether concealed weapons should be prohibited in certain locations has been debated for years, and more often in the past decade. On one side of the debate, supporters of the “gun-free zones” claim that prohibiting concealed weapons in certain locations will reduce crime and ensure that the location is free of gun violence, allowing concealed weapons can result to more guns landing in the hands of criminals, and some even insist that public safety should be left to professional, qualified police officers, not ignorant citizens with little to no expert training. However, it is absolutely necessary to know that prohibiting weapons in certain locations
Is concealed carry bad? Is concealed carry dangerous? What about….. Let me stop you there. Concealed carry has such a bad reputation just because it is a handgun concealed from public view. That is what makes it so great, the fact that people cannot see it. It can make people question whether they want to mess with someone or a certain business. Concealed carry is also not handed out to everyone that applies. There are multiple stages of trying to acquire the license to allow this. One stage is a background check. The government checks to see if you have a history of mental illnesses, any arrests or runnings into the law, and more. It is also our right. There have been countless court cases on whether concealed carry is in the same place
In this paper, I will discuss Pennsylvania Concealed Carry laws, benefits of concealed carry and my views on such, states that Pennsylvania has reciprocity with and the troubles this creates, and the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2014. Concealed Carry is the act of carrying a handgun that is hidden, usually under clothing. Concealed Carry is a controversial topic in today’s age, especially with the gun laws that were dominating politics in 2013 and 2014. There is currently a bill in office to make Concealed Carry laws much better for the carrier. I will write more about this later in the paper.
Concealed carry permits are not easy to get. Every state that offers concealed carry permits requires that each person first pass a background investigation. These investigations usually take about one month to complete, and require fingerprint, criminal, and psychological background checks to find if an individual has a history of mental illness, criminal record, or fingerprints involved in a crime. After the background investigation is complete, the individual must complete a firearm safety and concealed firearm training course. This course covers not only the safe handling of firearms, but also covers the legal aspects of a persons right to use a weapon in their own defense. Students and faculty already in possession of these permits, have demonstrated they are responsible for their actions and have sufficient training so they won't pull out a gun just to show it off. These people know that carrying a concealed weapon is for self-defense, should only be brandished as a last resort, and comes with added responsibility and consequences if the need arises. Any person that chooses not to accept these additional
Even Though defending yourself against a cop may be a little risky, we should still have the option to bear arms. I know there has been different situations that could support the second amendment, such as robberies, kidnapping, terrorist acts, mass murders, etc. However in those situations you cannot always depend on law enforcement. According to Chelsea Mitchell at Secure Pacific Corp., the average police response time is seven minutes nationwide. Pulling a trigger only takes a second. The perp may not have a gun, but he on average police reaction times has seven minutes to torment you and vice versa. So ask yourself would I really want to be without a firearm? For the people with families,”shouldn’t I give my family peace of mind by doing whatever it takes to protect them”? Or the elderly, not everyone has
There is a small percentage of the population that has a concealed weapons permit. In that small percentage everyone is a law abiding citizen, except for a few here and there. They are a set of citizens hard to tell apart in a crowd because of their normality. This meaning that they do not plan on doing harm with their weapon. They respect the fact that having a concealed weapon is serious business. They are willing to go through the tests and classes that one must go through to obtain their permit. They know all the laws, which they must fallow, with that one could safely say that a concealed weapon would be handled safely by this set of people.
What if someone who is 18-20 was getting kidnapped, how are they going to defend themselves? If they could get a concealed carry permit at age 18 they would be able to defend themselves easier instead of fighting them with fists. A lot of deaths or injuries are from people between the ages of 18-20 because they have no way to defend themselves. The concealed carry permit law should be lowered to people 18 years of age when they are able to purchase shotguns and assault rifles.
Concealed carry is a constitutional right to citizens of the U.S. for the right to bear arms. People who support of concealed carry law say that criminals are less likely to attack someone they believe to be armed. It is set in stone that Americans have the right to bear arms. This should not be any different nowadays that violence and crime rates are going through the roof (Henigan).
If you have ever been in a life threatening situation with no way to defend yourself, being denied access to a firearm makes the situation worse. Many law abiding citizens that feel threatened are not able to obtain a firearm for protection. Innocent people are dying while criminals are getting away with gun related crimes. There can be many regulations and laws against guns, but if a person wants a gun they will find a way to get one. The thought of criminals having guns in their possession is a scary thought, but would you want to be the one who is unarmed? Research shows there is no direct correlation between gun control and lower crime rates; therefore, denying law abiding citizens access to weapons for protection is unfair
