The Public Health field is constantly changing and adapting to a new environment and changes that are occurring worldwide. Many of the Leadership and Management Skill trends that are affecting Public Health are the demographic shifts that are occurring in the US population. Accountability in relation to public responsiveness, assessing emerging health risks, and changes in health services delivery and financing, as well as leadership geared towards being collective and with less stress being place on the individual, are various trends that are affecting different forms of management. Within this paper, I will be examining collective leadership and how that will affect work at the individual level. Many do not fully understand what kind of role that Public Health and more specifically Public Health agencies play in their health and everyday lives,

The leadership competency for development I chose to work on is Knowledge of the Healthcare Environment. I chose this competency because I have very little knowledge of the healthcare environment and feel it would greatly benefit me to broaden my knowledge in this area since I would like to work with the older population as a care manager/geriatric care manager type role in the near future.

The vision, mission statement, and the company values help direct the company’s strategic plan. The vision statement provides the direction the company desires to head. By knowing where the organization wants to be in the future the strategic plan will be developed accordingly to the desired outcome. The mission statement tells the potential customers what the organization is all about and creates a snap shot of the organizational values. The strategic plan is formulated to provide the backbone of the mission statement. Finally the organizational values help keep the core values in

The world needs leaders to lead by example. The health care field needs leaders to promote what is the right things to do in healthcare thus enhance the productivity of care delivery in a qualifying cost-effective way. Leaders are skilled with brilliance, innovation for change and possess the vision to determine what needs to be done as well as empower people to strive for change and promote a healthier system for that which is of concern. Transformational style leaders are preferred in the new design of healthcare delivery systems today. Transformational Leadership inspires followers and acts as role models, creating acceptance of the mission and purpose of the team (as cited in Lievens, & Vlerick, 2014).

In today's health care environment, leadership is a skill that will have a profound impact on health care operations of organizations in the future. Leadership will be needed to navigate a changing health care landscape. New laws have now helped reduce costs industry wide, the population is now becoming older, and a greater majority of younger individuals are now insured. In regards to overall nursing leadership, mentors often display common characteristics that allow them to effectively motivate and lead others. Many mentors in the nursing field have the ability to inspire action rather than forcing it upon others.

Different systems in healthcare dictate the quality of services available to their respective clients. One of the common systems in medical practice is the primary healthcare delivery. This system is comprised of primary care institutions, nursing homes, hospitals, and intensive care units. Within the primary healthcare system, different professionals use their managerial competencies and skills in order to ensure quality services are available to the targeted patients. A wide range of policies in healthcare have emerged in order to ensure more people receive quality medical support (Ratnapalan & Uleryk, 2014). In order to ensure this goal is realized, management has become a powerful policy agenda in the primary healthcare setting. The term “health system” refers to the organization of institutions, resources, and professionals that offer sustainable services to support the medical needs of the target population. This definition explains why there are numerous types of health systems. For instance, the nature of laws and care delivery models in a given nation define its healthcare system. This discussion focuses on the issue of leadership within the realm of management and its role in the changing healthcare environment.

Within many companies and businesses there are often huge dilemmas with the leadership aspect of the organization. This skill of leadership should be found among managers who have to rely messages and to lead individuals in the right direction. Communication problems, organizational management concerns, and motivational issues are among the few that arise due to the lack of professionalism. (Core Competencies for a Healthcare Administrator, 2016) One company in particular that influenced my outlook on how to be a competent and an efficient employee was the Spine Institute. Along with completing tasks and being an overall successful company, there were also a lot of components that caused issues and problems within the workplace. Most healthcare employees are trained professionals who are capable of managing a healthcare organization, providing proper patient care and even maintaining professionalism when no one is looking. (Elevate Admins, 2016) In order for a healthcare business to be successful, all healthcare employees need to acquire and need to apply proper communication skills, necessary organizational management skills, and must be able to motivate their employees and each other at all times in order to be an exceptional leader.

"The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things." Ronald Reagan, (Haden, 2014). This Assignment will reflect the personal success of two different leaders in the healthcare sector. From different backgrounds and different beginning but with similar motivation to leave an remarkable impression on humanity.

Effective management of health care is imperative in all and every health care organization, regardless of location, or patient population. Moreover, in creating an effective and the exceptional health care organization, those in leadership are to be well trained in order to create a successful organization, which stands out among its competitors. Be its excellent management or communication skill, flexibility, dependability, strong leadership ability, etc., those are all some good qualities an effective manager ought to have in order to create a prominent organization.

Healthcare leaders are no doubt evolving and adapting to new set of skills required to successfully lead an organization. They are for the most part faced with so many challeneges and variety of complex issues that often demand essential leadership skills and qualitites to keep and organization running and at the forfront of success esepcially in times of uncertainity. Thus, a great healthcare leader need to have a clear vision of the organizational mission and values as well as a strong abilities to lead other healthcare personnel in pursuit of the organizational values and a healthy envirionemt that promote caring, innovation an creativity in order to meet the needs of our patints' population and the community.

Leadership in health is all about the competency of the leader that involves cultivating an environment in which all the providers and consumers can contribute to their full potential for any health activity in such that the consumers know what is available and what best possible they can achieve and the providers to support the consumers in the best way possible to get the necessary information and cure if required in regards to public health sector (Andrew Garmen, 2006). For this requires effective public health leader who is there within the community to make them realise what is available and what is required so as to be able to advocate for services that are unavailable but required (Koh, 2009). The 21st century with various emerging health related problems there is widespread recognition that the challenges posed by obesity, alcohol, smoking, climate change issues etc requires solution from public health approaches where the role of leadership remains intact in tackling the public health challenges of the 21st century (Pittman, 2013). This would need a leader as such who is a combination of administrative excellence with strong sense of professional welfare and builds enduring greatness through a paradoxical blend of personal humility and professional will for awareness rising to encourage and to initiate public health activities (Day et al., 2012).

The healthcare industry is experiencing unprecedented change generated by multiple external forces including “Obamacare,” electronic medical records, an aging population, and mergers and acquisitions (Goretsky, 2012). These unprecedented changes along with the needs of the patients, staff and operations place significant demands on healthcare leaders. In most cases, physician leaders receive little to no leadership training in medical school resulting in a need for organizations to provide leadership learning to address current and future strategic and operational issues. Traditional leadership development programs may be inadequate for the workforce of the future. Organizations need to identify potential leaders earlier and accelerate them

However, the mission and vision are a critical and standard element in company’s organizational strategy. Consequently, these two elements have a purpose in a company’s strategic planning. Forward more, a mission statement serves as a guide for the company decision they make this generally target their employee, shareholder, and leader of the company. Consequently, out of the mission come vision, by putting the mission of paper, it makes the vision plan. Forward more, what direction or step will be taken to utilize their vision Nevertheless, the mission statement and vision is one of the primary purpose for successful companies. Forward more, this is where the planning department step in dealing with profit margin, customer satisfaction of product that the company sell. The mission statement also points out more altruistic intention that ultimately leads to profit for the company’s.

A good leader should have power to explain the matters and he or she should teach the patients as well as the staff under him or her. In healthcare organizations, leader should know all the work of the employers under him.

Mission statement tell them area in which a business functions and sets out its significant purpose. It sum up what the firm does and why. And vision define to long-term goals and ambitions clearly and in short. It is projected to inspire and encourage the organisation 's staff by providing an image of where the business is heading. These are important because when people catch logic of their work, they feel that personally and in the sense of rights. They are more faithful to it, more intrinsically motivated, more engaged. And that makes for better performance on all dimensions. When employee understand the importance of these things they automatically contributed towards an overall growth of organization. These things put excitement, confidence in employee and also give a clear view to customer of that organization.
