I chose to read the article titled, Parenting: The Teen Years. I chose this article because it appealed to me, considering I am still a teenager myself. While the article was fairly short, it gave useful information for parents, especially new parents. I feel if more people knew about the helpful information such as warning signs of distressed teens, parents would be more confident on how to address certain common issues they had with their children. As the article states, many teens feel some amount of disconnect from their parents, and I think it would benefit all people to know how to talk to their teenagers as well as how to relate and sympathize.
One important way to get helpful information out into the world is of course via the internet,
We all have seen many young women between the ages of fourteen to eighteen years becoming pregnant. Teen Pregnancy is something that has been around for ages, and isn’t all that uncommon now day in our society. Teen Moms are often portrayed in a negative light in popular culture media. Consequently, reality TV shows have been around for a while, but has changed completely. The first “reality” shows were considered good for almost everyone. “A lot of people think that addiction is a choice. A lot of people think it 's a matter of will. That has not been my experience. I don 't find it to have anything to do with strength.”
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics of today. It is defined as the voluntary act of ceasing a pregnancy. The very core of abortion is inhumane and dehumanizing, yet it has become quite popular in contemporary society. This topic has caused an uproar in society as individuals debate over the morality of having abortions. Abortion at any time during a pregnancy should be illegal.

“Pushing Back Against a Teen Culture of Entitlement” is an article written by Mr. Gregston, which states that children have a large sense of entitlement that is commonly caused by parents. The thesis of the article, “And what we wind up with is young adults who show two very unhealthy traits: selfishness and a sense of entitlement,” portrays how Gregston views a majority of teenagers. Gregston is a radio host, speaker, and a counselor who helps struggling teenagers. Throughout the article, Gregston argues that parents give in too easy when their children ask for something they “claim” they need.
In these two texts, both authors informed their readers on how and why technology impacted society as well as introduced claims that these impacts were a main factors in human evolution. Modern day parenting is far from easy, today’s parents face many obstacles and sometimes can be way too hard on the child. Parents work to protect the children and help them succeed in life whether that is at work or at school. The endless worrisome thoughts about one’s child can cause the parents to crack down on the child which ultimately pushes them away. Teenagers are known to be distant and “stuck in a different world” most of the time due to hormone changes, and outside influences such as friends. Parents struggle to hold a relationship with teenage children because the teen tends to want to be alone more and sees the parent as “over protective”.
In the article, “Teen Parenting Can Be Beneficial”, authors Simon Duncan, Rosalind Edwards, and Claire Alexander wrote about the positivity of being a pregnant teen. Autonomy: This theory is interesting because there was a story about this in the media. I believe it was a few months ago where a young girl refuse chemo. The basics of this story was that a 17 year old teen had a treatable form of cancer but refused treatment. I didn’t look into her decision as to why she refuse chemotherapy but that what she had decided rather it based on her personal beliefs or religion maybe perhaps in some crazy way she doing it for someone else. However, superior court rule against this and I believe force the teen to get treatment. The court states the teen was not competent of making this decision based on her lack maturity. I actually am tore on this story to because I agree with one’s decision making but if I had cancer I would fight till the very end. Nevertheless, everyone has their own views and opinions on this.
Before entering English 1301, I had my doubts about what this class was going to consist of. Raising a child isn't an easy thing to do. Raising a child while the parents are still in their teens is even harder. Dealing with the day to day chores that involves a baby and trying to work and get an education is very stressful on any teen.
I never thought having unprotected sex would lead to a teen pregnancy. However, I was wrong. Being young, immature, and thinking I was invincible led me to becoming a teenage mother. The disbelief came first, followed quickly by panic, before the realization and acceptance arrived. I had sex and I had to be mature and deal with the consequences and grow up faster than most teenagers. The days of my carefree teen life are now behind me as I tend to my eight month old son’s every need.
