The managers were not using the resources the company had and had caused some of the drop in profits. The decisions on hiring management should be a global decision, in which Jung is prepared to change. The company still supports Jung and the decision 's that she is making so she can gain the advantage of their competitors and repair the problems at the Fortune 500 Company.      Of Mice and Men was written during a period of racism. In the 1960's it was important for everyone to get along with eachother because not everyone was equal. George and Lennie showed a great part in friendship throught the whole book. At the ranch in Selinas mostly everyone showed friendship in some way. Friendship was a great factor when the book was published because of all the racism going on at the time.

Of Mice And Men The novel ‘Of Mice and Men’ reveal life in the 1930’s. A time very diverse to ours. Steinback, the author of this novel wrote about various issues such as lifestyle of the travelling ranchmen, loneliness, friendship, the American dream, racism and sexism. The book is about two migrant labourers, George Milton and Lennie Small in California.

Messier was dedicated to Americanizing the firm, taking away from its French heritage. When Messier decided to sell off Vivendi Environment, the parent company’s most profitable business, to finance a deal with USA Networks he continued to transform the firm into a media first business neglecting the firm’s water supply roots. Now the parent company was left with debt and many overvalued assets. Vivendi Universal would eventually have to write down significant amounts due to excessive goodwill estimates from acquisitions. Messier was stubborn. He declared that these loses were not reflective of the company’s sound operations and tried to blame Lescure, the decision-maker for Canal Plus, for the parent company’s business failure, deeming Canal Plus as a tumor for Vivendi Universal. All in all, Messier was adamant in keeping to the story that his firm was in good financial position, and, because he had the support of board members (who he had initially appointed), others believed this story as well. His persistence in growing the business fogged his perception of reality—he was managing a failing business. It is clear that Messier did a poor job as CEO.

The story Of Mice and Men took place during the 1930’s. That time period was very different from today. The 1930’s were also a time where people started questioning life and the American culture. Many people like John Steinbeck thought that life was very unfair and questioned whether if life was even worth living. In Of Mice and Men John Steinbeck demonstrates that mans dream is destined to be destroyed by a cruel reality.

I think when a leader makes a decision on complex issues; there is a process for a leader to engage in. This process, often, consists of specific skills; such as problem and decision making skills. It offers a leader to produce an effective, robust method to deal with complex issues. This enhances the quality and effectiveness of achieving good results. Where as, the Malcolm Baldrige helps organizations to achieve high standards on the quality and the performance of an organization, as it foster the competitiveness of the industry.
