Art galleries are essential to the art world, however, is not the only source for audiences to view art. To begin with, art and artwork is defined as the application of human skill, creativity and imagination. Taking this into consideration, individuals need to examine the nature and purpose of art galleries as a facility to collaborate, organize and display a collection of artworks. As an event planner of an art exhibition in my community, my focus would be to develop ways in which the community can participate in the exhibit and how the exhibition can benefit the community as a whole. Art exhibition attracts the members of the community to come together in an appreciation and awareness that fosters unity in the community. Experiencing art at the local community helps to reveal the character and identity of the neighborhood. I decided to go to the Quad City Arts Center Gallery. This gallery is located at 1715 2nd AVE. Rock Island, IL. When I first pulled up to this gallery I realized that it was very modern. The building had two different establishments on either side in a plaza setting. My first impression of this art exhibit is that it is very clean and roomy. Right when I walked into the building, the lady that was working there was very welcoming. This gallery changes its exhibition every couple of months. The current exhibition is called, “Out and About,” and has been there since August, and will be there until the end of October. This exhibition focuses on the outdoors. On July 14, 2015 I made a trip down to Celebration to see the art gallery at the Bohemian Hotel. Every single time I enter the town of Celebration I fall more in love. Well, today I realized that art galleries do not need to be big, to be impressive. As I arrive to the hotel I get to take in the beautiful architectural design of the hotel. Inside I get the pleasure of seeing more than 75 different art pieces. The whole reason I wanted to go to this specific location was, because someone had told me that there was glasswork throughout the hotel. However, the small yet impressive art gallery captured my attention more. The hotel had art pieces all over, but I got all caught up in a corner where local artists, Nina Buxton, Huston Llew, and Phillip Anthony; had their beautiful pieces of art.

On Saturday October 4th Nuit Blanche Toronto’s annual celebration of art, drew crowds of spectators to the streets of downtown to experience the awaited installations. Many pieces referenced strong messages on topics ranging from cultural differences, environmental concerns, and social issues. The night was divided into four main zones: Before Day Break, The Night Circus, The Possibility of Everything, and Performance Anxiety, each zone was located in a region of downtown Toronto. We started our night at Spadina Avenue viewing the exhibition Everything is possible and walked all the way to Fort York finishing our night with the exhibition Before Day Break. In total I was able to view 31 installations consisting of video, sculpture, and performance. The piece that stood out to me the most during the night was located in Fort York in the exhibition Before Day break. This themed exhibition consisted of 12 installation pieces that focused on the “evoking complexity of life itself” with topics ranging from social politics, human relationships, cultural diversity, and religion. As a teenage girl, I constantly find myself with mixed emotions about life and the changes that come with it. Painting is a necessity that helps me understand my feelings, myself and it gives me a sense of normality.
