Judaism is an ancient religion which originated in the Middle East and has spread throughout the world. Today the followers of Judaism have many tradition s and rituals in which are celebrated all year round in thanks and in praise to God. Shabbat is one of the most important rituals and is celebrated by nearly every variant of the Jewish Religion.

On the other hand, Judaism is a monotheistic religion and it endorses the worship and belief of one sole deity, God. Jews speak Hebrew and their holy book is called the Torah. There are two main beliefs in Judaism, that the Sabbath is holy, and that you must follow the Ten Commandments. The Sabbath takes place from sunset on Friday sunset sunset on Saturday, it is basically a day of rest from work "Six days you shall do your work but on the seventh you shall rest" (Exodus 23:12). They usually light two candles, and attend an evening service in the Synagogue and begin with a special liturgy called kabbalat Shabbat "welcoming Shabbat"(Goldberg 341-343).

Judaism originated close to four thousand years ago in the region of Canaan. It’s heritage traces back to God giving his commandments to Moses on Mt. Sinai. Judaism is based off of the Torah-the Jewish holy book. The Star of David, also known as Shield of David, represents Judaism. In Judaism, women are separate but equal; they believe that women are equal to men, as it states in the Torah, but women aren’t allowed to do the same jobs as men. As for the demographics of Judaism, 13.3 million people in the world are Jewish and the majority of them live in Diaspora. Yom Kippur is the most sacred day of Judaism; in this holiday, Jews fast, pray and repent for 25 hours. Along with Yom Kippur; Chanukkah and the start of Passover are also important in the Jewish holidays. Judaism is similar to Christianity and Islam as they only believe in one God, and Jesus’ crucifixion. Judaism and Islam are strictly monotheistic. Unlike Christianity and Islam, Judaism believes that God has divine revelation and forgiveness. They call their God Yahwen.

The Jewish religion makes Israel’s culture in 722 B.C. - 540 B.C. distinctive. Israel’s religion is important in the fact that it started the Catholic culture. Though most Christians do not do the same things the Jews did back then, the bases for their beliefs and ideas came from the Jews. The Israelites’ way of life was influenced by their religion. They maintained their faith even when they were being exiled. Their work, customs, laws, and other things were all influenced by their Jewish religion. The geography of Southern Israel was also important in the way that the location affected their way of life and work. These folkways and work are important since their religion influenced them. Religion was their structure of life.

Palestinians and Israelis fight over Jerusalem, both wanting the holy site as their capital. The U.N. split Palestine asunder, and the adjoining Arab states declared war on the new country. After months of vehement brawling, Israel and her contiguous Arab states acquiesced ceasing the war. Palestine and Israel differ in multifarious ways. Israel has attained land throughout years and has been identified as a country since 1948, whereas Palestine lives in Gaza Strip and West Bank forthwith, and does not classify as an autonomous country. Israel, a country slightly smaller than the U.S. state of New Jersey, is located in the Middle East. It borders the Mediterranean Sea for a length of 168 miles. In the south and southwest, it borders the Gulf of Aqaba and the Sinai Peninsula. Israel occupied the Sinai Peninsula during the war of June 1967 and returned it to Egypt in April 1982. To the east, it shares a 147-mile borderline with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and 189 miles with the Palestinian Autonomous Area on the western shore of the Jordan River. In the north, Israel shares 49 miles of borders with Lebanon, and with Syria for 47 miles on the disputed Golan Heights.

The 113th Congress has been considered as the worst congress in the history of the United States. The highly polarized institution showed its inefficiency when dealing with the fiscal budget. By failing to pass a new budget, the American government shutdown for a couple of weeks. One of the leading causes of disagreement between the two parties was the extension of the debt ceiling limitation. The government is accruing more and more debt every year, and not passing a budget could eventually lead to a default on American loans. Although the 113th congress resolved their issues during the 16 days of shutdown, they ultimately postponed the battle till the next year. In my paper, I will explain the background of S.540, the Temporary Debt Limit Extension Act, who introduced it and how each party opposed each other on this bill. This bill went through a yearlong journey starting in the Senate and ending on the president’s desk. I will then conclude by evaluating the proposed bill and explain why it was signed and enacted as a law.

When Israel joined the UN in 1948, they did not agree with the resolution (194) that all Palestinian refugees from the war had the right to return back to their homes and receive compensation for their losses. In terms of peacekeeping, the state of Israel’s mission shows the promotion of international peace, prosperity, and security through the UN institutions (Israel diplomatic network). It is said that Israel has a high sense for the promotion of humanitarian awareness and responsibility. Israel is known to always be there for the protection and survival human beings, e.g. “Israel’s 200 strong relief team was the first on the scene in January 2010 after the earthquake hit Haiti”. Judaism is the complex expression of a religious community, a way of life as well as a set of basic beliefs and values, which is separated in patterns of action, social order, and culture as well as in religious statements and concepts. The ideal is to remember God in everything one does, through prayer and keeping the commandments. There are many spiritual practices that the Jewish people follow as a reminder of their faith and as a way to engage all the senses in awareness of God. Some of these scared practices include: circumcision, Sabbath, eating kosher foods, and Bar Mitzvah. Of all of the commandments in Judaism, the brit milah, is probably the one most universally observed. It is commonly referred to as a bris. Even the most seculars of Jews, who observe no other part of Judaism, almost always observe these laws. Boys are ritually circumcised when they are eight days old, to honor the seal of God's commandment to Abraham. A person who is uncircumcised suffers the penalty of kareit, spiritual elimination. Sabbath is the most important ritual observance in Judaism. It is primarily a day of rest and spiritual enrichment. The Jewish Sabbath runs from sunset Friday night to sunset Saturday night. Observant Jewish families begin the Sabbath eve with a special Friday night dinner. The woman of the house lights candles to bring in
