Global warming is the gradual increase in temperature of the earth’s atmosphere. It is mostly caused by the increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Recently, global warming has been rising and is negatively affecting people, animals, and the weather. It is negatively affecting people by increasing health problems such as, cancers, and respiratory problems. It’s causing animals to be put on the endangered list, or even extinct the species as a whole. And it’s affecting the weather by causing an increase in storms such as hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, etc. Global warming is a huge problem that people tend to ignore, and needs to be put to an end. Global warming harms human health, by causing an increase in illnesses. …show more content…
For instance, in the article “The Cultural and Geopolitical Impacts of Climate Change” written by Lynnley Browning, Chuck Hagel (defense secretary of the President) states, “Climate change poses immediate risks to national security.” This is important because it proves that global warming is affecting the safety of innocent people/citizens of a country. Also, Browning states, “Artic ice cap shrinks, potentially leading to military conflicts, particularly with Russia, which planted a flag on the seabed below the North Pole in 2007 and has some 4,300 miles of Artic coastline.” This is significant because it shows that global warming isn’t only affecting people, but also the military and their alliances/conflicts. Then, in the article “Long-&Short Term Effects of Global Warming” the author (Michelle) states, ““[T]he civil war in Darfur is thought to be the first conflict that can be partially attributed to climate change...The extreme drought in [2003] caused fights to break out over the limited resources of water and food. When the lack of resources was added to the instability of the region, war broke out.” This proves that there have been a lot of conflicts and/or wars and will continue to create conflicts and tension between areas. In another article (“Glaciers Melting Worldwide, Study Finds”) written by Robert S. Boyd he states, “Irrigation and hydraulic power will dry up… rapid rise in sea levels, speeding the flooding or even destruction of low-lying islands and coastal areas.” This is significant because soon, global warming will eventually erode a lot of states, cities, and islands. This will make people move their homes and their jobs in the middle of countries. These are a few reasons how global warming affects the security of humans and causes disputes between countries and their military
Global Warming is a major world problem that we have but people don’t seem to realize that and it may end all life on earth as we know it. We are causing many problems to the earth that we don’t realize what we are doing we may think everything is ok but it’s not. Global warming is all our fault and we need to stop!
We've all heard about global warming as well as climate change. Climate Change is the buildup of massive amounts of man made greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. Causing the Earth's temperature to slowly rise over a long period of time. The amount of carbon dioxide in the air has increased rapidly over the years. Climate Change is a global problem and recently an issue more and more people are paying attention to.
What is global warming? It is a problem when too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, acts as a blanket and traps in heat which then, ultimately warms the planet. During our
Global warming is a gradual increase in the average temperature of the earth's and its oceans and a change that is believed to permanently changing the earth’s climate.
In order to understand the issue of global warming (also referred to as climate change), you must first understand what it means and how it happens. Global warming is a result of a process known as the greenhouse effect, in which the light and heat from the sun are trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere by greenhouse gases; which subsequently raises the average temperature on Earth. The greenhouse gases responsible for this process are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and tropospheric ozone, all of which are released into the atmosphere through naturally occurring processes (Warrick, R. & Farmer, G., 1990).
Global warming is a phenomenon that has amazed and frightened everyone ever since it came into being. The consequences and end results of global warming is what goes on to alarm and frighten everyone on earth. If looked at it literally, global warming is basically in increase in the temperature of the Earth's atmosphere. This change and elevation has been occurring ever since the 19th century and is known to increase even more. The change in the global temperature is dangerous because it goes onto increase the sea levels and alterations precipitation, melting of glacier and possible risks of floods around the world. Global warming can even cause a spread of the deserts (Lu, Vecchi and Reichler 6)
Global warming is a term used to describe the slow change in Earth’s overall temperature. This topic recently started being heavily recorded and studied by scientists. Politics started including it around the 1990’s. The boost of greenhouse gases caused by human burning of fossil fuels, industrial farming, and deforestation activities are what people tend to blame for
It is easy to overlook the damage that is currently being done – but it won’t be for long. Ocean levels are predicted to rise by four feet by two thousand one hundred, and natural disasters in general are expected to intensify significantly. More bushfires, more flooding, and more irreparable damage to society.
Global Warming is an increase in the Earth’s temperature and attribute that increase to the greenhouse effect. Both of these are impact to the human life.
For the past few years Global Warming has been an issue that continues to worry Scientists from all over the world to this day. Global Warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by higher levels of Carbon Dioxide. Many people believe that Global warming is the one thing that is causing ice to melt on Earth.
Global warming, by definition, is an increase in the temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. With the rise in modern technology, the average temperature of the Earth’s surface has increased about 1.4 °F; two-thirds of which has arisen since the early 1980’s. Industrialized countries
Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth's weather. Global warming is also known as the green house effect. Global warming is a very serious world issue. Most humans are trying to do as much as they can to help stop global warming. Global warming has caused many problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps. Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly,
The first thing I want to start off with is telling you what global warming is and give you an idea of what it can do to our planet. Global warming increases temperature all around the world. It also put a lot more carbon dioxide in the air by us humans. Pollution of Carbon dioxide is one is the most common one and is mostly caused by running vehicles exhaust, burning of fossil fuels such as coal, and factory smoke.when we let carbon dioxide in the air it has nowhere to go except in our atmosphere. therefore is causes rising temperature to build up in our atmosphere over time slowly.
Global warming, as the name implies, is the literally the warming of the Earth all around the globe. Global warming causes many disasters like drought, glacier melting, hurricanes, and rising water. These problems are happening because of Earth’s temperatures going up and more heat everywhere. Some of these aren’t an obvious concern, but these can impact millions of people everywhere. On top of that Earth’s wildlife is suffering these blows harder than people are and are dying out because of it. Wildlife simply cannot adapt to rapid temperature changes in such a brief period. As National Geographics says in their article, What Is Global Warming? “glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are dying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace.” (National Geographics). What the National Geographics team is trying to say that global warming is causing huge problems that impact the entire world. Another author, Amanda MacMillan, says “All but one of the 16 hottest years in NASA’s 134-year record have occurred since 2000.” (MacMillan). What this article is saying is that global warming is real and it is happening now. Science shows that global warming causes not so-natural disasters, that are bad for the human population, but terrible for the overall population of organisms. Studies also show that global warming impacts the environment in such a way that organisms cannot adapt. In conclusion, global warming is the heating of the Earth, through human impact, that causes problems wildlife can’t adapt to.
Global warming has become a world wide issue and an issue that is causing great controversy. It is an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution (Dictionary). Global warming is a natural process, but because of increase in certain activities this process is taking a faster and more dangerous route creating global problems. Global warming was first theorized in 1894 by Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier a French mathematician, who noticed the earth was gradually increasing in temperature. He came to the conclusion that the earth’s atmosphere was trapping solar radiation caused by the sun and reflecting this radiation back to
