What is global warming and what does it mean. Global warming is any substantial change in Earth’s climate. Global warming refers to climate change that causes an increase in the average temperature of the lower atmosphere. Global warming can have many different causes, but it is most commonly associated with human interference, specifically the release of excessive amounts of greenhouse gases. Global warming is also known as the greenhouse effects. The increase of human population has affected the world. The growth of our population has increased our use of fuel, land and manufacturing. All of these are causing an increase of emissions to go into the Earth’s atmosphere, which is causing global warming. I did a questionnaire on global …show more content…
The Antarctic holds enough ice that if it melts into the sea, sea levels can rise up to more than 215 ft. According to Bill Chameides, chief scientist for the advocacy group Environmental Defense and a former professor of atmospheric chemistry “Things are happening a lot faster than anyone predicted”. Yes! The prediction that we was told was off everything is happening faster than we see it. We have glaciers melting, lakes dried up and not much land to farm on. Global warming known as the greenhouse effect is not a new problem to us. Change in natural greenhouse effect has affected temperatures through the past few decades. Increase of storms is cause by changes in weather patterns. Global temperatures are projected to increase higher. The rate of temperature changing averaged over the last 50 years is nearly twice that for the last 100 years. “The biggest ever study of climate change reported that it could prove to be twice as catastrophic as the IPPC’s worst predictions. We could reach the point of no return, the extinction of human kind” (Brown). Earth’s atmospheres collect heat and light from the sun which causes greenhouse gasses. With too many greenhouse gasses in the air, the earth’s atmosphere will trap too much heat and the earth will get too hot. The burning of solid waste wood and fossil causes carbon dioxide to release into the atmosphere. “Carbon dioxide has contributed about
Global warming refers to the rise in temperature in the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Each year the temperature of the Earth increases gradually with an insignificant amount; however, with pollution produced by humans, the rate has increased even more compared to pre-industrial levels. According to NOAA, "Global surface temperature in 2016 was the warmest since official records began in 1880. It was the third year in a row to set a new heat record, and the fifth time the record has been broken since the start of the 21st century.” The earth is getting warmer every day and is starting to become a real problem, especially when it is approaching the threshold. The rise in temperature is so rapid that it could influence and change the composition of the world's population. In fact, the consequences of global warming are unnoticed in our daily lives because they are affecting us slowly. The rising average temperature of Earth is changing our lives for little things. There is much evidence that the Earth is warming as a result of the increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Perhaps the most notable signs of global warming are the natural catastrophes like hurricanes and winter storms. The effects of global warming are different all over the world, and they affect people's lives differently. People should be concerned about global warming and its effects because we only have one planet where we can
The greenhouse effect, warming that occurs whenever the atmosphere traps heat from Earth towards space, is the main cause of global warming (NASA, 2016). Gases such as water vapor, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, and methane do not respond chemically to drastic changes in temperature, force climate change. One of the reasons for this is because of the deforestation of land for agriculture or industrial needs has increased concentration of green house gases.
“Global warming refers to the recent and ongoing rise in global average temperature near Earth 's surface. It is caused mostly by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Global warming is causing climate patterns to change. However, global warming itself represents only one aspect of climate change” (Climate Change, EPA.gov).
Greenhouse gases keep heat close to the earth’s surface making it liveable for humans and animals. However, global warming is happening largely due to an over-emittance of these gases and fossil fuels (natural oil, gasoline, coal)
Last but not least, global warming has caused the polar ice caps to melt. The melting of the polar ice caps will cause the sea levels to rise all over the world. If the sea levels rise just a metre
Global warming refers to average global temperature levels increasing- causing climate change. Climate change involves the average global temperatures increasing or
“Global warming” refers to the observed phenomenon of a marked rise in average global temperatures since around 1950. One must hasten to note that the question whether the earth is warming is a separate question from why the earth is warming. Most scientists who study global warming believe that it is due to the increasing release of greenhouse gases (which reflect infrared light radiated from the earth back into the atmosphere, which keeps them it from escaping into space) and increase the net amount of heat on the planet.
Extreme weather will be the reason millions will be displaced and those in poor communities will be affected the most. With ice caps melting in the polar regions, sea levels rise about three and a half centimeters a decade (NASA, 2010).
Global warming, also known as climate change, is the ascent in the average temperature of the earth’s climate. It is caused by the “greenhouse effect”, which is the accumulation of carbon-dioxide(C02) and other pollutants and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere which absorb solar radiation which is normally reflected back into space. Although it is caused by various factors, the largest sources of this heat-trapping pollution worldwide are the burning of fossil fuels for electricity and transportation. The global temperature is rising rapidly. “Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has risen at the fastest rate in recorded history” (MacMillan). The majority of the scientists and scholars agree that this rapid increase in global temperature leads to many environmental, social, economic, and political problems. Global warming has been an affair of controversy in the past few decades. Every national and international scientific body agree with the existence of this phenomenon. However, a limited number of scientists still argue against its existence. Global warming is real because with the passage of time, its effects are becoming more apparent and there is abundant scientific evidence that corroborate its existence.
What is global warming? Global warming is the average temperature of Earth has increased since 1950 until now the temperature continuing increasing. Global warming can also refers to climate change that causes an increase in the average of temperature. However global warming are caused by natural events and human that are believed to be contribute to increase in average temperatures.
Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and precipitation patterns are changing Extreme weather events are becoming more intense and frequent.

Climate change is a global issue that has and will affect the world. Peter Singer believes greenhouse gas emissions ultimately lead to global warming that will kill a lot of people. The effects of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increasing each year is devastating news to humans and animals because it affects future generations. Studies show climate change is already affecting everyone worldwide and continues to do so. According to the World Meteorological Organization (1950), the “temperatures
Global warming is a rising issue that is threatening our environment. It has caused significant changes in the climate that rapidly continues to get worse every day. Global warming is the gradual increase in the earth’s overall temperature which is caused by the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the reason for increased quantities of gases such as chlorofluorocarbons, carbon dioxide, and other pollutants in the earth’s atmosphere. This atmospheric heating phenomenon causes temperatures to rise globally when the gases trap heat from the sun. The main cause of global warming is human activity.
The world today is facing a large number of problems from war to high unemployment rates but the biggest danger the earth is facing is global warming and it has the power to destroy many regions around the globe. “Global warming is the gradual heating of Earth 's surface, oceans and atmosphere. Scientists have documented the rise in average temperatures worldwide since the late 1800s. Earth 's average temperature has risen by 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degrees Celsius) over the past century, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Temperatures are projected to rise another 2 to 11.5 degrees F (1.133 to 6.42 degrees C) over the next 100 years.” (Bradford, By. "What Is Global Warming?" LiveScience. TechMedia Network, 15 Dec.
