The organizational setting of the Health and Wellness Center is a recent service line added to a large, well-known behavioral health organization. The Health and Wellness Center offers a variety of integrated care services to a small community, and surrounding towns in Connecticut. The concept of integrated care is one of the newest healthcare trends; designed to support the overall public health goals of providing quality healthcare services while eliminating disparities and reducing healthcare costs. To advance to this level of management, the healthcare administrator must show evidence of professional skills and judgment through performance of key competencies in being a leader. Healthcare administrators must first be comfortable and confident in managing themselves in order to be an effective leader. Team members will align their trust with an administrator who leads by example. Important skills to manage include: their time with tasks and people, their responsiveness and follow through on the challenges, their capability to be relational and motivational with a positive presence, and the ability to recognize and validate the team members contributions to the overall organizations goals and values. The healthcare administrator needs to continuously stay on top of healthcare trends and management techniques to be adaptable in the growing and expanding role.

With the many challenges healthcare leaders face, it is important for leaders to develop many different leadership styles to accomplish the organizations mission and ensure organizational success. In my organization, this has required the adoption of the situational leadership approach, where effective leaders adapt their leadership style to manage particular situations (Giltinane, 2013, p. 38).
Besides having access to a computer, copier, fax machine, telephone, office, desk; a healthcare administrator would need to have a strong blend of management, leadership and technological skills; A healthcare administrator must be able to manage staffing issues, budgets, operations and much more. Being a multi-tasker is a skill that takes time to develop, but become worthwhile to have. Since a healthcare administrator has to work closely with a variety of strong personalities; having peacemaking skills, the ability to listen, and make decisions that are in the best interests of the team are other very important tools to have. Being detail-oriented, having strong analytical skills, and being able to review a situation quickly in order to make a good decision on the spot are also important tools to have.
They need to make sure that all the employees are working consciously and following all the set rules to avoid any conflicts. Moreover, an Administrator must be a role model to all and must possess a good leadership skills that is sensitive enough to pick the needs of the employees and the company. As my career advances, I have selected my preferred style of leadership. Transformational leadership suits my moral upbringing and rationalization the best. I prefer to set the example for my peers as to what is expected from all nurses instead of demanding duties to be completed. Thus, the staff can see that is not just them that have to accomplish excellent patient care and do all the hard work. Becoming a leader is every challenging and complex task to accomplish. Many of us hope to become great leaders that will be loved by their employees and colleagues.
