In Syria there is a war going on, and had been going on for over 5 years. Many people have fled and 400,000 people have been killed. There is this organization called the white helmets and they are designed to save and help people when a bomb hits. Although many have fled , the ones who stayed back rely on this group of white helmets to help them if they ever get injured or trapped because of a bomb. Many of the people that are getting targeted are women and children and they are innocent people. The white helmets believe everyone's life is equal so they try their hardest on trying to rescue people from the rubble. The white helmets get sent away for a month and get trained on how to properly put out a fire, how to rescue someone, …show more content…
Russia's intervention to support the regime says they are fighting isis but really they are targeting innocent civilians. In Aleppo, two barrel bombs were dropped in a small village with about 10 houses. The first bomb left a number of people injured; but the second one killed lots of people. In the film we met a man named Khalid Farah who has been apart of the white helmets for 3 years. He said that anyone who is killed or injured is treated as if it was his own son, because everyone should have the equal care. Teams of white helmets would leave Syria and go to southern turkey for a month and gain experience, so they could go back and teach their colleagues. We also met a man in the film who crossed the border and said it was a whole new world. This man would see planes in the sky and said if he was back home the planes would be dropping bombs. I learned that Syria is a very dangerous place for just innocent people. One of the questions I had during the film was why don't the people in Syria just leave, since Syria is only getting worse? In the film they say Syria was bad but now it's getting worse so why don't they just leave? Another question I had during the film is why do the volunteers continue what they do after all the people who have been killed in the line of
“The community’s blunt outrage over the children’s arrests and mistreatment, the government’s humiliating and violent reactions to their worries and the people’s refusal to be cowed by security forces embolden and helped spread the Syrian opposition.” This notion demonstrates that the killing of the four protestors was only the first of many deaths to occur continuing into an on-going war that has: “…triggered nationwide protests demanding President Assad’s resignation.” Because of this, the Syrian government decided that in order to handle the issue they must crush this nationwide dissent. This in return only allowed the protestors to push harder for a change within the country of Syria, in hopes of it becoming the wonderful country that it was in the years prior to the war. “Syria’s conflict has devolved from peaceful protests against the government in 2011 to a violent insurgency that has drawn in numerous other countries.” “With neither side able to inflict a decisive defeat on the other, the international community long ago concluded that only a political solution could end the conflict in Syria.”
Syria’s civil war is the worst humanitarian crisis of modern time. The “Syrian Civil war Began in March of 2011, between rebel brigades and government force; economy and infrastructure is destroyed” (Library, 2016). “Divisions between secular and religious fighters, and between ethnic groups, continue to complicate the politics of the conflict” (Corps, 2016). Additionally, the Syrian civil war has taken a significant
With a death toll in the hundred of thousands, and millions displaced, the Syrian civil war has become a violent mark on the world’s history. What started as a peaceful protest has spread over five years, has evolved into a war with a tyrannical government, a clashing rebellion, and terrorism fighting either side. But what is it that really fuels the immense amount of violence? It can be narrowed down to four groups that are obvious. The government and the rebels are the forerunners in violence in the war, sure, but they aren’t the only ones. There are the terrorist groups, with skewed views to support the destruction of people and things around them, and in itself the stark difference of the religions and ethnicities of Syria. Who causes
As the rifle and machine gun fire exchanges in the Syrian Civil War not only lives are lost but many innocent men, women and children are left in need of emergency care. Cecily Hilleary, a traveling journalist for VOA World News, mentions “the United Nations estimates the civil war raging in Syria has left more than 2.5 million people in dire need of food, water, drugs and medical supplies,” not including the already 25,000, and counting, deceased from the war (VOA par. 9). The medical aid is minimal in Syria due to the low number of volunteers and medical staff. Cecily tells the stories of crowded hospitals with over 250-350 beds being piled up upon with hurt Syrian individuals, many being innocent women and
The white helmets are volunteer workers in Syria who are risking their lives to save civilians from the bombings from the Syrian government, which is targeted at the rebels who are fighting the government but instead hitting innocent civilians. These workers had to leave their old jobs to dedicate themselves to this new lifestyle. There have been more than 200 deaths from the volunteers. Now there are currently 140 women volunteers.
The Syrian Civil War has had a profound effect of all Syrians as well as neighbouring countries and the international community. With more than 11 million homeless Syrians comes consequences beyond what most of the world population has ever experienced or anticipated. Of the displaced, almost 5 million are refugees outside Syria and around 6 million have been displaced inside Syria, with half of all displaced Syrians being children. The main causes of displacement amongst the population is the violence committed by all sides of the war, and which often targets civilians or centres of high civilian activity (such as markets, hospitals, schools, workplaces or high density residential areas). One main group heavily affected by the conflict
Over the past four years, the situation within the Syria has become more and more dangerous. As many as 6.7 million people, have been displaced from their homes within the country alone. Another 4 million have fled the country entirely, in order to get away from the incessant fighting. An estimated 200,000 people have been killed over the course of the war, but the country is so
In a country full of death and devastation, it is easy to lose hope. Although this may be true, to some civilians, hope is the only thing they have. Thanks to a group of volunteers, hope can become more then a dream, but instead a reality. In Syria, bombs and riots have taken over because of a civil war. Ordinary civilians have congregated to save the sinless people who are caught in the middle of the fire. They train, fight, and most of all remorse, on a day to day basis to save a stranger. They wake up every morning, buckle their boots, strap their helmets, and set out to do what they believe is their humanitarian duty. These men call themselves the White Helmets.
Attention getter- Have you ever been forced to leave your hometown without committing any crimes or doing something wrong? Imagine yourself waking up one day, seeing that you are in the middle of the war with people running around and screaming for their lives. Such incident may seem very unlikely to happen to you however, the people of Syria have been experiencing it for almost everyday of their lives. .
Because of the traumatic events that happened and are still happening in Syria, if I got a ticket and could go anywhere, I would go to Syria. Seven years go, Syria turned into a full-scale civil war. Syrians were angered by the high unemployment rate, political woes, and the lack of freedom. This brought many to protest and escalate violence. The Syrian government then reacted by comannading the Syrian air force to drop two chemical bombs on Syrian civilians. These bombs killed at least 89 people and injured 541 others. I know many people would stay clear of a place like this but I have been taught that when you see someone in need of help, you help. Yes, the threat of getting hurt, or worse, is imminent but how could any human being turn their head on these poor people.
Syrian jets bombed a marketplace in Douma, Syria, killing more than 100 people in August of 2015 (Robins-Early 5). This was an attack that occurred in the midst of the Syrian civil war, a war between the government (President Bashar al-Assad), and rebel civilians. The current civil war revolves around a conflict regarding the balance of power within the country, while an immense number of innocent civilians are being caught in the center of the violence and instability that the brutal war is causing. Over 4 million people have left the country as refugees, while some are unable to escape to horrific violence (Robins-Early 1). Amongst those who are stuck within the country, children are quitting school to make money to support their families, as their parents die in the midst of the war. Innocent people- citizens of the region- are being infected by diseases that have been eradicated for a decade and a half. The Syrian civil war has caused much violence and instability to increase amongst the citizens of the war-torn country, as seen through the loss of education and childhood that the children must face, along with the disease epidemics that the entire population must face.
Syrian displaced people have been languishing with war over a long time since everything began ("Syria: The Narrative of the Contention"). Families and kids are still in threat from the administration strengths and agitators. Notwithstanding that, the lifesaving
Over the last few years, the Middle Eastern nation of Syria has been the location of a brutal, nationwide conflict. Governed for the last fifteen years by the Syrian dictator, President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian people began an armed rebellion against the oppressive regime during the spring of 2011. For four years, the bloody conflict has waged between pro-Assad forces, and various factions of rebel groups. In 2013, pro-Assad forces deployed rockets with chemical warheads into rebel controlled neighborhoods, killing many non-combatants indiscriminately, showing the world Syria’s complete lack of humanitarian considerations, and Assad’s willingness to stop at nothing to remain in power. This use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime has
Syrian civil war started in 2011 was the outcome of the opposition against the President Bashar al-Assad regime. The uprising emerged as a response to the Arab spring movement that lead to regime change in Tunisia and subsequently turned into mass unrest rooted into the discontent with long-term dictatorship and poor economic situation in the country (Manfreda, n.d.). The number of Syrian citizens killed in the civil war reached 140000 since March 2011 (SBS 2014). The European Commission (2014, 2) reports approximately 9.3 million civilians “in need for humanitarian assistance”. The scale of armed rebellion between government and opposition that lead to an increasing number of casualties among civilians did not remain unnoticed by the
“What then is freedom? The power to live as one wishes” (CITE CITE CITE). Syrian people have lost their freedom, and have been living in fear since the Syrian Civil War broke out in 2011. The horrific civil war has been going on for years. There was a rebellion against the Syrian government six years ago starting the civil war. Ever since then innocent civilians have been hurting and suffering. Syrian people have been drug away from their homes and are living in anguish. The controversy on how the United States should help Syrian people has formed over the years. The media has started to cover the Syrian civil war more, and it has shown the world how much Syrian people are hurting. Americans have started to realize that these people need help, but the question of how to help is still under discussion. Some people believe that America should use organizations to donate money and supplies to the people in need. They believe that with the help of money and food that the people will be okay. Other people believe that America should send in U.S troops to help end the fighting.
