Walgreens Internship Report

My experience as an intern at 3M consisted of carrying out laboratory research to ensure the safety and durability of the large-scale manufacturing medicine filter, Zeta Plus™. This experience advanced my ability to collaborate, think ahead, apply what I have learned in Chemistry and Mathematics, and increase my expertise in computer software. My current position in Community Relations at Travelers entails for me to communicate with and manage volunteer opportunities for over 3,000 employees, in addition to connecting Travelers with non-profit partners, event planning, and serving as a liaison in Saint Paul for my remote manager and team in Hartford, Connecticut. This position enables me to not only exercise and expand my communication and technical skills, but also allows for me to learn about myself. And lastly, as a Resident Advisor at the University of Minnesota, I have been able to serve as an academic, social, and personal resource for forty first-year students. As an RA, communication and time management have been at the heart of my success. As a junior studying Marketing and Computer Science, my interests lie within the space of sales marketing, technology and international business, and I strongly believe that Morgan Stanley will allow for me to expand my knowledge in these areas. CVS is a company that has been around for over fifty years and focuses on filling the needs of an older population looking to get their medication and other essentials all in a one-stop shop. A very similar business in this niche is Walgreens. Through evaluation of both sets of financial statements from each company, the investor can make a better educated decision on whether or not to invest in stock at CVS.

The Walgreens chain began in 1901, with a drug store on the corner of Bowen Ave and Cottage Grove, Chicago, Illinois, United States owned by Galesburg native Charles R. Walgreen, Sr.[6] By 1915, there were five Walgreen drugstores. He added several improvements to the stores such as soda fountains and luncheon service. He also began to make his own line of drug products and was then able to control the quality of the items and sell them at lower prices. By 1916, 19 stores were in operation, all in Chicago. And in that same year, all the stores were consolidated under Walgreen Co. The 1920s was a very successful decade for Walgreens. In 1921, the company opened stores
