Critical thinking is ubiquitous; it is needed in the workforce, in the school, and in life. Teachers and college professors often emphasize critical thinking is the key for success in college. While critical thinking is significant, there are often faults about critical thinking in general because of the lack of a clear definition. Providing a clear definition of critical thinking will guide students to understand what it critical thinking truly is and it will also guide to improve their critical thinking. The definition for critical thinking varies among different critical thinking experts; some experts are often unsure of what critical thinking is. Critical thinking is important. Blooms Taxonomy breaks critical thinking as Evaluation Synthesis Analysis Application, Comprehension and Knowledge. The components of critical thinking are: the application of logic and accepted intellectual standards to reasoning; the ability to access and evaluate evidence; the application of knowledge in clinical reasoning; and a disposition for inquiry that includes openness, self-assessment, curiosity, skepticism, and dialogue.
Critical thinking is very important because every day of our lives we’re faced with life’s circumstances that requires a response from us having to make decisions whether it’s in a professional capacity or in a domestic capacity we often find ourselves struggling with having to make decisions whether great or small because whether we know it or not there are people that depend on us and the decisions we make matter.

The three reasons why critical thinking skills are essential for students and nurses are 1) solving problems; 2) helping with test-taking; and 3) self-improvement and managing stress.
A) I would like to think that I am a fair-minded person and do not make judgments based on prejudices and other negative factors. However, I do have to admit that I do at times come to conclusions about people and situations quickly without thinking. Many times I will allow my mood dictate how I think throughout the day. If I am tired and overwhelmed, I will react to a problem negatively without stepping back and thinking the dilemma through. More often than not, when I respond this way I always end up regretting it and unfortunately have hurt other people's feelings. Also sometimes when I am faced with a situation that involves thinking critically, I become overwhelmed and tend to just go with the most comfortable solution that takes less
Critical thinking is a common phrase in the modern world. This concept can now be heard floating around in all aspects of our culture, from schools, to businesses, and even to scientific studies. It is understood by many, but when asked to define such a term various interpretations may be heard. This ideal means something slightly different to every individual.
Imagine you’re driving home from a long and trying day at the office, when all of a sudden a car comes zooming into your lane, nearly sending you crashing off the road. Natural instinct might cause you to honk your horn, shout out a series of profanities, or even chase the vehicle down to directly give the driver a piece of your mind.
In the readings this week, we learned about the many aspects of being a critical thinker, as well as methods for developing critical thinking skills and critical problem solving. These are all important aspects of everyday life required to ensure even the simplest of tasks are done effectively and with the use of good judgment.
