Chapter 12.2, Problem 12.8CP
Program Plan Intro
Event handling in java:
- An event is the change in state of an object or source. The objects are buttons, textbox and so on.
- Event handling is the
mechanism which controls an event and decides what should happen if an event occurs. - That is if a button is clicked, its state will change to clicked. And this will decide by the event handling. Here click is the event happened to the button. The event handling will decide what should happen if a button is clicked.
Event listener:
- Event handler is also known as event listener. The event listener generates response to the event on an object.
- The interfaces responsible for handling events are represent an Event listener.
- Java provides several Event listener interfaces. Every methods of event listener have a single argument.
- Some of the Event listener interfaces are given below,
Control | Description |
ActionListener | This interface receives the action events. |
ItemListener | This interface receives the item events. |
ComponentListener | This interface receives component events |
Keylistener | This interface receives key events. |
TextListener | This interface receives text events. |
Windowlistener | This interface receives the window events |
FocusListener | This interface receives the focus events |

Write a code snippet that imports the tkinter library and creates a new window object root.
Add a label widget to the window object root with the text "Hello, World!".
Write a code snippet that adds a button widget to the window object root with the text "Click me!", and binds the button to a function button_click() that prints "Button clicked!" to the console.
Hint: You may find the Label, Button, and command attributes in tkinter useful for completing parts 2 and 3
Note: For each part of the question, make sure to provide clear instructions and examples for the code snippets. Also, make sure to test your code snippets to ensure that they work as intended.

- Event handling in JavaFX is when a user interacts with a control (source) that results in an event object being created which is sent to all registered listener objects. The listener object (handler) responds as you define it to. Articulate the role of event object and listener objects with an example.arrow_forwardCreate a JavaFX GUI with a GridPane of Labels with eight rows and nine columns. Remember that the row and column indices are zero based, and that GridPane's setters use the column index first and the row index second. Set the text of each Label to the *sum* of the row number and the column number. For example, the text of the label at row 3, column 2, should be "5." Set the text for the Labels in the same nested loops you use to create the Labels. If you write 72 different lines of code to set the text, you are doing it wrong! You do not need to use event handlers in this checkpoint. Write a .css file that gives the labels a color scheme you like. Remember the odd syntax for linking stylesheets to JavaFX GUIs.
