Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The physician first measures the normal weight of a person and then measures weight of the person when he is fully submerged in the water.
Here the person's normal weight implies the amount of gravitational force acting upon him. The person's weight in water means the net force acting on him is the product of the interaction of the forces of buoyancy and gravity.
In addition, the buoyant force acting on him can be assessed by measuring the person's amount of volume displaced. Depending on the usual weight of the person, and in water, the total amount of body fat of the person can be determined.
