Concept explainers
Interpretation: To find out how the variation of equilibrium constant would be plotted against cell potential, if the logarithmic scale is not used, we have.
Concept Introduction:
The equilibrium constant for an
a) The standard state potential for the electrochemical cell
b) The half-reactions involved in the electrochemical cell.
The Nernst equation is used in determining the equilibrium constant.
R = 8.3145J/mol-K (gas constant)
T = temperature
n=number of moles of electrons that gets transferred by the reaction of the electrochemical cell
F=96484.56 C/mol
Q= reaction quotient.
At equilibrium, the value of the reaction quotient is equal to the value of the equilibrium constant.

- Convert 45 mi/h to m/s, showing how the units cancel appropriately.arrow_forwardThis is for practice. Do numbers 11 through 20arrow_forwardThe outside temperature can be estimated based on how fast crickets chirp. At 104 chirps per minute, the temperature is 6363 °F. At 176 chirps per minute, the temperature is 8181 °F. Using this information, you can make a formula that relates chirp rate to temperature. Assume the relationship is linear, that is the points form a straight line when plotted on a graph. What is the temperature if you hear 128128 chirps per minute?arrow_forward
- I need help calculating the following values please! (for the unrounded it must be 4 sig figs or more)arrow_forward9. When a volatile liquid is completely vaporized in an Erlenmeyer flask, the volume of the flask (and thus the vapor) can be determined by one of two methods. One method is by filling up the whole flask with water and then finding out the water volume by pouring the water into a measuring cylinder over multiple times and read off its volume. • From the topics we learnt this semester, what do you think can be the other method of determining the volume of water in the flask? Which method do you think is more accurate? Why? (arrow_forwardSee image below. Can you please show me how to calculate this?arrow_forward
