Explanation of Solution

The mathematical quantities which are used to give detailed description of motion of objects is divided two types namely scalar and vector. The basic difference between the two is:

Scalar quantity possesses only magnitude. It does not depend upon the direction. For example, speed, distance, time are scalar quantities.
The vector quantities are those quantities which possesses both magnitude and direction. For example velocity, displacement, acceleration, momentum are vector quantities.
