Chapter 6, Problem 34P, A manufacturing plant employs a heater and a conveyer belt motor on the same 220 V service line as

the heater and motor are given by ν H ( t ) = 66 cos ( 120 π t ) V and ν M ( t ) = 180 cos ( 120 π t + π 3 ) V , where t is in seconds.

(a) Write down the amplitude, frequency (in Hz), period (in seconds), phase shift (in radians), and time shift in seconds) of the voltage ν M ( t ) .

(b) Plot one cycle of the voltage ν M ( t ) , and indicate the earliest time after when the voltage is maximum.

(c) Write the voltage ν M ( t ) in the form ν M ( t ) = A sin ( 120 π t ) + B cos ( 120 π t ) (i.e., Find A and B).

(d)The total voltage is ν H ( t ) + ν M ( t ) .Write ν T ( t ) in the form ν T ( t ) = V cos ( 120 π t + θ ) (i.e., find V and θ ).
