Something incredibly hard that every child needs to experience is telling their parents that they are really interested in pursuing something. Even if their parents are against the decision of the child, both parent and child need to know the differing viewpoints of the other person involved.
It’s the middle of the winter of 2009 and my family and I are on our way to my very first meeting with the Three Rivers 4H Club. I am incredibly unsure about what 4H is, in fact, I had never even heard of 4H before my mother presented the idea to me in the spring of 2009. My mother brought the idea to me because I was tired of lying around all summer and I needed something to do. To fix this dilemma I was having, she did a little bit of research on the Internet for summer activities and programs around Carlisle and the state. That’s when my mother stumbled across an Iowa State University link for something called 4H. After she and I sat down and talked about 4H I found out that I loved the idea of all 4H is and what it does.
I thought would enjoy this because ever since I was a little girl I have loved to go out to

When she asked me, “Are you sure?” after I had told her that I do want to be a part of a 4H club; I began to seriously doubt myself. It made me question if I actually wanted to do this and if she would be mad at me for choosing to join 4H. After pondering it for a few weeks, I still had the same drive as I did before even as she continued to make me question myself. My mother continued to make me question everything with all of her questions she would ask me like “Is this what you really want? Do you know how much work this will be? Are you going to be able to handle the responsibility?”. Despite her questioning, I knew that I wanted to do join

With today’s changing world and the economy the way it is, it is not uncommon for people of all ages to enter the college setting. In fact, two-thirds of students entering the college setting are classified non-traditional (Brown, 2007). Bill (2003) found that there was an 11% increase of non-traditional student enrollment from 1991-1998 displaying 35% in 91 and 46% in 1998. These numbers have since increased according to Jacobson & Harris (2008) showing that half to 75% of undergraduates consist of the non-traditional student sitting the reasons for reentering the college setting to be economic. What exactly defines a non-traditional student and what services may they need in comparison to the traditional student.
It is truly an honor to be recognized by National Junior Honor Society. I realize it will take so much more than fantastic grades to be a part of NJHS. It will require tremendous commitment, determination, and a significant amount of time. I honestly believe that an NJHS member should always feel the need to always help others. The volunteer spirit should not only be shown in the community, but at home, church, and in school.

I like to say that I have been involved in 4-H since before I was allowed to be involved. Being the youngest in my family, I was always tagging along to 4-H events that my older sisters were in. Therefore, our clover kids’ leader, Michelle Hassebrock, let me participate with the clover kids about 2 years before I was even old enough to officially become a clover kid. That is where my journey in 4-H as a member of the Howard Happy Helpers officially began. From there, I was involved in 4-H all the way through my senior year of high school. My participation included holding multiple officer positions like; photographer for one year, historian for two years, treasurer for two years, and president for three
4-H has been a major part of my life. It’s funny that shooting sports has been a more major part of my life. Through this program I have learned many life lessons such as, how to be responsible, life is not all about winning, and how to be respectful to your peers.
It is difficult to remember a time before 4-H entered my life. Alhough my 4-H journey started later than most others, it has been one of my greatest educators. I have gained life experiences and lessons that I am unable to find anywhere else. While reflecting on my seven years in this organization, I am able to recognize the numerous lessons and skills that 4-H has provided me. On the surface it seems as though 4-H is just about raising animals and completing projects in order to win a ribbon. Looking deeper, 4-H is an educational experience that is about much more than that. Members are exposed to hard work, money management, teamwork, and good sportsmanship at an early age. But the learning does not stop when fair week is over, 4-Her's put
I love to watch you dance, singing your heart out, playing softball, drawing me some amazing pictures, playing with your sister, and most of all I just enjoy watching you enjoying life. You have also taught me
4x4 parts are necessary for every 4x4 to ensure the vehicle keeps on running, especially after the breakdown. Before purchasing any 4x4 parts, however, it is vital to know what precise parts you need to get your 4x4 back on the road. Another thing to consider is the price of those 4x4 parts. No matter who fixes your 4x4, it is necessary that the parts are inexpensive, yet of a high quality.
