BANKSY
ARTIST
Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter.
His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humor with graffiti done in a distinctive stenciling technique. Such artistic works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world.
Known for his contempt for the government in labeling graffiti as vandalism, Banksy displays his art on public surfaces such as walls, even going as far as to build physical prop pieces. Banksy does not sell photos of street graffiti directly himself; however, art auctioneers have been known to attempt to sell his street art on location and leave the problem of

He can actually draw."
ARTWORK
Asked about his technique, Banksy said:
I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a moustache on a girl's face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an intricate drawing. Efficiency is the key.
Stencils are traditionally hand drawn or printed onto sheets of acetate or card, before being cut out by hand. Because of the secretive nature of Banksy's work and identity, it is uncertain what techniques he uses to generate the images in his stencils, though it is assumed he uses computers for some images due to the photocopy nature of much of his work.
He mentions in his book, Wall and Piece, that as he was starting to do graffiti, he was always too slow and was either caught or could never finish the art in one sitting. So he devised a series of intricate stencils to minimise time and overlapping of the colour.
There is dispute in the street art world over the legitimacy of stencils, with many artists criticizing their use as "cheating."
AUDIENCE
Peter Gibson, a spokesman for Keep Britain Tidy, asserts that Banksy's work is simple vandalism, and Diane Shakespeare, an official for the same organization, was quoted as saying: "We are concerned that Banksy's street art glorifies what is essentially vandalism." In his column for The Guardian, satirist Charlie Brooker wrote of Banksy "…his work looks dazzlingly clever to idiots."

Graffiti has been around for more than half a decade and practiced worldwide. However there is debate between whether it is a form of art or vandalism. Graffiti artists’ debate that many do not understand the reason most graffiti artist take the risk of incarceration, fines, injuries, and in some cases death to paint a wall. A graffiti artist can have the simple desire to become recognized, or to create a piece that speaks to their audience as a form of self expression. Because graffiti is associated with gangs and acts of destruction to some many cannot see the history and importance graffiti can have on a worldwide scale. Due to the fact that graffiti is usually produced illegally, meaning it is
He has issued to fixated on in, is the fact that the police never apprehended the artists as well as Theirry when vandalizing. When visually perceiving news footage in today’s world, if anybody gets caught with vandalizing they are customarily taken to jail without a caveat. However, in this particular film Theirry was out with Banksy as well as other street artists and they never got in trouble. Which leads to apostatizing as an unauthentically spurious film. When filming, Theirry caught on footage a police officer verbalizing to the artist, “Come here, Im not going to apprehend you.” This would never transpire in authentic life
“Street art is omnipresent in urban streets and is a rish source of inspiration for artistic creativity. . . It possesses the aesthetic voices of the ordinary and enables resistance for the marginalized. Banksy’s street art, in particular, can guide students to think about various social and political issues and to reflect upon the immediate, if not unjust, world in which they live, to transform that world, and to
Banksy’s projects always revolve around a key idea relating to the site and time specific political and socio-economic issues. Banksy is known for condensing complex global issues, not always at the attention of the general public, and putting his stance on the issue in very simplistic terms through his art. He gained a major following across the world of all ages and socio-economic beginnings. Another aspect that makes Banksy very likable to the communities is the fact that he wants his art to be public and available to everyone in all the parts of the world, instead of just a handful of high end galleries, museums, and private collector’s cellars. Moreover, the Banksy Effect was a central force to bring attention to street art, not vandalizing and meaningless to the majority graffiti, and put it on an international art arena. Bristol is not the only city in the world embracing the street artists. Miami, Baltimore, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and many more cities are progressively embracing street art rather than repelling it. Thus, in the next section I will turn to the discussion on the public policy in favor of Banksy and his fellow street artists, current possible legal avenues and briefly touch
Graffiti can be found everywhere and anywhere. It is a way for people to express themselves and be creative in a public manner. It shows how passionate and talented they can be when it comes to drawing or tagging and have it displayed as a piece of art for everyone to see. Graffiti goes way back to the ancient times and is now very well known in the modern days which makes more and more people interested and fascinated by them. It can be used in different types of ways. Many artists can either spray paint, carve, paste, or stencil them on a surface. From how we see them today they are usually images of random cartoons, big bubbly letters, vintage black and whites or inspirational quotes. Virtually anything colorful or not and big that can be easily spotted. Graffiti is more superior to be known as art than vandalism because it is a self expressing act. People need to be open minded about the images they see and look at the message behind it or else they will immediately criticize and say it is vandalizing property.
While his identity remains unknown, it is believed that he was born in Bristol, England in the mid-1970s. In the beginning of his career, he started doing graffiti in the early 90s and collaborated with other street artists. His artwork at the time consisted mostly of freehand, but starting in the late 90s, he predominantly used stencils as it was deemed more efficient. With this technique, his work became more well known around Bristol and London. In the late 2000’s, his work surfaced all over, even being on buildings in different parts of America, predominantly New York City. While some of his work seems to be humorous and satirical, they mostly relate to war and capitalism. His work often times are parodies of historical images, such as the piece being focused on in this analysis (“Banksy
Nonetheless, Robin Banx (original moniker, a shortened form of robbing banks) or Banksy are a few of the flamboyant monikers for a revolutionary street artist who is most known for his controversial stenciled pieces in public property. His stencils incorporated descriptively starching messages that are both humorous as well as meaningful. His messages ranged from antiviolence to an economic standpoint – an audacious representation

Additionally, this question can not be left unanswered. Should street art be illegal?
Banksy is a well known graffiti artist that specializes in stencilling. I chose this artist because his techniques differ from other major artist. The meaning behind his artworks intrigue and inspire me to design my artwork in a similar way. Not only is Banksy a graffiti artist, he’s a political activist, film director, and painter. I’ll be discuss how he begun stencilling and where he was originally influenced to do so, as well as where and how he designs his artwork.
While he was one of many young black artists engaging with early 80’s New York Graffiti, his point of difference from the rest of the subculture was his dual interest in high-brow art and the genre of the graphic comic book. It was this fascination that propelled him from street artist, to the more venerated genre of ‘serious artist.’
Like all other artistic forms, graffiti has experienced movements or changes in style. The messages have also evolved. Graffiti has always been somewhat political, but it has come a long way from simply tagging one's name to parodying world leaders to make a statement. (Sanchez, 2007)
So many of graffiti artist have no care in what they do but what they draw. As argued, “[g]raffiti writers, the book argues, cannot be understood merely as
All art has beauty, but that beauty may not be seen by everyone. As revealed in the article “Banksy: The Man Behind the Wall” and the documentary “Banksy Does New York,” Banksy is one of few people who understands that. Banksy is an anonymous street artist who had his start in England. He took up a 31-day residency in New York plastering the state with his personal spin on graffiti. Also explained in the documentary, Banksy is an anonymous street artist who originated in England. Banksy’s art directly links to Birk and Birk’s language process and Rosenblatt’s idea of censorship, causing uproars as well as conveying the message that art is relative.
Banksy, one of the most notorious (in a good way) artists of the moment, seems to come from a different place than many young street artists. His goal isn 't to gain fame, or infamy for that matter, but to awaken the world to the ironic injustices that plague our society and our culture. He 's actually gone to extreme measures to keep his true identity unknown to this point, further proving that he 's not in it for the fame. His art beautifully depicts the hard truths of our culture in a uniquely contemporary way, and his murals, often placed on public property, are well thought out and planned. In Banksy 's 2010 documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, art collector Wendy Asher praises the success of his first commercial art show: "Everyone I told about it bought something. Like people who have Picassos and, you know, Mondreans . . . I mean, serious collections." Whether Asher 's art collectors bought Banksy 's pieces only for the controversial appeal or for the quality of the piece itself, the fact that the art show was a success indicates the value of street art.
