From East End to London David Bailey is an English author and photographer based in East London. He is widely revelled as one of the greatest photographers ever; thanks to his free-spirited and nonconformist approach to his technique. He felt as though he needed to integrate himself into his projects as well as his subjects, which is what set him apart from the others in his league. He always showed a piece of himself in every photograph or portrait in his career. Way back in January 2nd 1938, Bailey was born into a blue-collar family up in East Ham, London. He had trouble in school with reading and spelling (which he would later be diagnosed with dyslexia); the way he got around reading was by looking at the way the letters were written. He memorized them. By the time the young Bailey turned 15, he dropped out of school and three years later was drafted into the Royal Air Force in 1956. That’s when his magic began. The most popular one is Box of Pin-Ups. It is a 14 1/2 x 12 1/2 in. box containing 36 subject photos of Mick Jagger, the Beatles, Andy Warhol, Jean Shrimpton, Cecil Beaton, Terence Stamp and Rudolf Nureyev. Dramatic yet at the same time, gentle. Bailey’s use of lighting captured his subjects’ natural cheek bones and beautiful curves and crevices. His work is timeless. Other books include Models Close Up (a book documenting interviews with some of the most popular models of his time), Imagine: A Book for Band Aid, and the Wonder of Forgiveness which was released earlier this year. "Forgiveness works beyond the taking away of our sins. Forgiveness works a wonder. It changes the way we think; it governs the direction of our walk; it generates sincerity in our worship, and moderates our relationships with God and fellow
Introduction: Throughout the book of Into The Wild Chris McCandless is known to be a wacko reckless idiot, and is also known to be courageous and heroic. However does a courageous person go out into the wilderness knowing that the outcome will be fatal? People viewed him from different perspectives and also have broad range of opinions of this young man. Some deemed him to be incredibly dim-witted or a man that simply just followed his heart. Evidence shows that Chris McCandless is actually a mix of both. The first opinion that described McCandless was brainless, idiotic, and extremely foolish. Many passages from Into The Wild can support this outlook.

According to his article, “The Battle Against Fast Food Begins In The Home”, the author, columnist and blogger Daniel Weintraub, argues parents, not fast-food companies or the government are responsible for their child's health and well being. Weintraub supports this claim by providing data from the Center For Public Health Advocacy on the subject of overweight schoolchildren, State law recommendations outlining nutritional standards, and his own experience with the problem. Weintraub intends to convince or persuade the parents or parent to accept the blame for their overweight child. From my standpoint, however, it is clear the

Towards the end of the 1930s, the United States government was preparing itself to progress from one despondency to another. Because the Great Depression was nearing its final months and the threat of becoming involved in the European war continuously intensified, it was decided that substantial amounts of energy, along with an ascending budget, was to be focused on developing military boats that could haul soldiers from ships to open beaches. In New Orleans, Andrew Jackson Higgins was known for manufacturing Eureka Boats, or shallow-watercrafts that assisted in the exploration of oil and gas throughout the Louisiana bayous. After many failed attempts Higgins was able to adapt his design

If it is difficulty that shows what men are, there should be no doubt about what kind of man Carl Brashear is. The Navy's first African-American Master Diver, Brashear faced difficulties that would have defeated most people. His spirit and determination resulted not only in his overcoming great odds to become a U.S. Navy diver, but also in his surviving the loss of a leg in an accident on the USS Hoist in 1966 - and more amazingly - in his attaining the rank of Master Diver.

Brian Duffy was hugely innovative photographer of the sixties and seventies. Duffy took amazing photos of famous and influential of the time such as John Lennon, Harold Wilson, David Bowie, and Twiggy. He even took the photo of one of Bowie’s most famous album covers, Aladdin Sane. But today the name Brian Duffy is not known by many. Duffy was born in 1933 in northern London, he was a rebellious teenagers who often skipped school and hung out at bomb sites. He took up photography as “an easy way to make money”, said Duffy. If Bowie collected throughout his life, the great bulk of his serious art-buying took place in a great surge in the late Eighties and early Nineties, which Bowie the compulsive auto-didact backed up with obsessive reading, visits to the artists, and writings for specialist journals. He pursued his particular interest areas simultaneously and completely independently of each other, so that they form often substantial collections in their own right. Bowie’s initially baffling passion for Modern British art can perhaps best be explained by the fact that he spent most of his adult life in voluntary exile from the country of his birth: in Germany, Switzerland and America. Removed from everyday reality in his world of limos and private jets, Bowie seems to have been constructing a sort of Britain-of-the-mind, through the efforts of other artists – but one that touched on deep-seated aspects of his own experience. Harold Gilman’s brilliant but very downbeat British post-impressionist interior, and Carel Weight’s mildly sinister faux-naïve image of children playing in a windswept street, are both very redolent of the sort of drab, repressed postwar suburban Britain Bowie grew up in.
