As I began this project I saw no purpose of keeping track of all these different things. I proceeded through the project and started to keep track of my intake, macronutrient range, fat breakdown and stage of change reports and I found it quite helpful to keep track of all those things. This project made me ensure that I was on the right path to becoming a healthy human being. I did not realize how unhealthy my eating habits were until this project made me examine that, which was a good thing. I still find it hard to maintain a strict healthy diet while being at college. Sometimes I am forced to deviate from my healthy diet, but this project helps me get back on track.
My actual intake is not what I expected it to be, I never thought I would be eating some of the foods that I am now eating because of this project. This project made me realize how poor my intake was from the first essay. I use to intake some of the unhealthiest food ever, I never realized how much harm I was doing to my body. Now, my intake is fair, I think I’m very much satisfied with the progress and changes I have made in my eating habits. Eating healthy is truly not that bad at all. I had to motivate myself to change my intake tremendously.

This project made me realize the importance of eating healthy and the consequences behind eating unhealthy on a daily basis. I never realized how much unhealthy food destroy your body until I really examine each one of my charts. There are so many foods to eat to ensure that you’re always receiving some type of nutrition into your body. By doing this project it also helped me become more active physically, ultimately to keep my body in the best shape ever. Of course, I still deviate and eat unhealthy foods, but now I’m aware of how to put myself back on the right track whenever I fall short of
I had no idea that what I included in my diet was so important and provided a significant impact to my wellbeing. After doing the first part of this Analysis project, I was surprised to see the many areas that I can improve on. I created 3 specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound goals to help me improve on receiving the right amount and variety of nutrients in my diet. My goals are to drink 8 glasses of water a day, have fruits and vegetables every meal adding to a total of about 4-6 cups, and to have a different breakfast every day. For 30 days, I attempted to implement daily each of my 3 goals.

The three-day diet analysis was interesting. There were many positive attributes to it and definitely negative ones. Over the course of the three days, which were Friday, Saturday and Sunday: and figured this would give a good depiction of what I was consuming on a regular basis. In some places I was consuming more than I should be and in some I was consuming less than I should be. There were also those places were I was getting just the right amount. It is so interesting to me to be able to find out what I am consuming and how I am consuming it. Being an active male, it was most interesting of what I ate, what my average of the three days were, and the plan on how I would correct the way I eat to make it a more healthier lifestyle.
From logging my food on myfitnesspal for five consecutive days, I have concluded heaps of information about not only my eating and lifestyle habits, but also the habits of our society. During the time period that I have logged my food for each meal, I have been very busy. Something that I concluded from this process though, is that the days that I was less busy I ate much healthier than the days that I was overly busy. I do think that it is extremely important to understand what exactly you are putting in your body and how this affects your body. By logging my food, I had the opportunity to really learn and understand these things. Collecting this data really affects health and medicine for many reasons. For instance, it seemed like the days that I ate a little bit healthier or exercised, not only was my health was better but I felt better. The days that I did not eat healthy whatsoever my attitude tended to be more negative. Since I recorded my food for five days, I have concluded that due to our fast paced society, fast, easy, and unhealthy food is what we turn to. The last 25 days I have recorded everything that has gone into my mouth from water and coffees to every meal I ate. I also recorded everything I did at the gym (that the app could find). In the beginning I was really dreading this assignment. I was thinking I would go over my recommended amount of calories, eat too much fats or sugars, or not exercise enough. But, I think my opinion was wrong. I actually did way better than I thought I would. Throughout this summary, I will discuss my calorie intake, vs recommended calorie intake and same with my sugar intake. I will go over my protein, sodium, and fat intake, and discuss my overall feelings on how I think I did on this assignment.
Keeping a journal of my weekly nutrition, eating habits and activity has been an eye opener for me. It was interesting to read through the results, as my eating habits are very different than that of an average person, because I have celiac disease. Celiac disease is digestive and autoimmune disorder that can result in damage to the lining of the small intestine when foods with gluten are consumed. Gluten is a form of protein found in some grains (wheat, barley and rye). The damage to the intestine makes it hard for my body to absorb nutrients. If I ingest gluten, my body is unable to process it and I get sick to my stomach. I also generally do not consume anything with unnatural additives such as, MSG or nitrates. Labels are closely watched and I try to eat and prepare food for my family foods as close to natural as I can. I mainly eat home cooked foods that I have prepared. The ingredients I use are all controlled by me, and not a factory manufacturer or restaurant. Because of my dietary constraints, I thought I was a healthy eater, but according to the My Plate Supertracker, I am not!
