"Enterprise Resource Planning is an integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer. ERP modules may be able to interface with an organization's own software with varying degrees of effort, and, depending on the software, ERP modules may be alterable via the vendor's proprietary tools as well as proprietary or standard programming languages" (pcmag.com). After researching companies who offer ERP solutions, I have decided to cover the following; SAP, IBM, AMS, and Oracle. SAP provides businesses with the opportunity to enhance their productivity along with the ability to adjust to the ever changing requirements of the industry. Corporate services, enhancement packages, operations, human capital management, and financials are all packages offered by SAP. The corporate services package provides a plethora of features; health and safety management, real estate, enterprise asset, project and portfolio, travel, environment and quality managements. The corporate services package also offers global trade services. Enhancement packages are convenient because they will update systems and functions of the business every 9 – 12 months.
