Global warming is a controversial topic, widely discussed among today’s society. It is significant because it deals with the opinions and beliefs of many individuals. It also creates controversy and provides society with the opportunity to express itself and its beliefs. Many people believe that the conditions of the climate have no correlation to human behavior and that nowadays, people exaggerate the impacts of climate change. However, these individuals fail to recognize the truth behind the topic. Global warming is both a real and serious threat to our existence that humans must address by altering their actions and behaviors.
Many false and inaccurate claims arise when it comes to the opposing views on climate change. Individuals will argue

In the Fifth Assessment Report of the IPCC, a report compiled by nearly 300 scientists stated that "... atmospheric concentrations of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide have all increased since 1750 due to human activity" (qtd. in "Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)"). The IPCC is a governmental agency in charge of collecting data on climate change and analyzing the results. Through the data collection, scientists have determined that human activity increases the intensity of the greenhouse effect and that humans are indeed the cause of global warming. Since the IPCC is a credential source, the argument that human actions do not correlate with climate change is ineffective. Not only do humans impact global warming, but they also impact the future generations to come. Evidence exists to …show more content…
Global warming, along with all of its negative impacts, harms the populations living on the Earth. Whether it is direct harm to an individual or harm caused to something which then impacts an individual, the effects of global warming do not go unnoticed. Due to its level of impact, “[c]limate change is … the greatest threat facing humanity. It will lead to small island states disappearing from the face of the earth, serious global threats to our food and water supplies, and ultimately the death of hundreds of millions of the poorest people in the world over the course of this century” (Doebbler). The list of consequences associated with climate change is infinite. This list will only continue to grow if society does not make an effort to do anything about it. If people were to realize that they themselves are the ones posing a threat to humanity, the situation would be different. However, most humans fail to recognize that global warming even exists, let alone the environmental, social, and economic toll it takes on the world. Instead, society concerns itself with other conflicts which it views as more important, leaving no room to worry about climate change. Many controversial issues exist in today’s society. They all have their own degree of importance and numerous consequences associated with them, and most of these issues will in some way, shape, or form impact
Global warming has become an undisputed fact about our current livelihoods; our planet is warming up and we are definitely part of the problem. However, this isn’t the only environmental problem that we should be concerned about. All across the world,
In modern America few problems prove to be as fundamentally problematic as the theory of human induced global warming. Its repeated coverage from within the media and political arena are influencing people worldwide, putting those who think differently in an outcast shadow. The truth of the matter is, to not believe in human induced global warming has become politically incorrect and unacceptable in the public eye. The theory of human induced global warming can be defined as the rise in temperature through human pollution of greenhouse gases resulting in catastrophic alterations in the earth 's environment. However, human pollution of greenhouse gases is so minor that it is not a contribution to the
Even scientists who think human activity is the main cause of climate change don't deny that natural changes will cause temperature fluctuations on Earth. However, their argument is that in the current cycle of climate change, the impact caused by man is far greater. But there’s no indication that the two sides of the climate change debate will reach any common ground in the near future on what scientific evidence is showing, or what policy decisions should be adopted.
The Global Warming theory has become increasingly popular over the past few years. Citizens of the world are being encouraged to be more environmentally conscious by others including politicians, celebrities, and world organizations. The problem with the theory lies in the fact that it has become more and more controversial as it gains publicity and attention. The basic concept behind this theory is that the earth was made with a balance of “greenhouse gasses”. These gasses are naturally occurring within the atmosphere and they essentially make the planet habitable by keeping it warm.
Climate change has been a subject of discussion in the media for many years, supported with the use of arguments against oil polluting the environment and extreme scare tactics of Polar ice caps flooding civilians backyards. The issue has been ignored by the majority of lay people as seeming too complicated, and with all the conflicting information in the media in the past, who can blame them? However, scientifically, climate change and what perpetrates it is fairly simple to understand and society as a whole is beginning to come to a clear consensus on climate change. Thanks in part to more readily available forms of media and information, people have become cognizant of the fact that climate change is a legitimate problem which requires immediate amelioration. While this may seem melodramatic, society is realizing that climate change is an issue which can no longer be denied if the human race wishes to continue.
Climate change is one of the most controversial and ongoing topics in society today. Scientist and politicians alike all have opinions, but very often they are not in line with each other. 97% of climatologists agree that climate change is happening, as well as many of the large corporations in this field such as NASA, the Geological Society of America, and the American Association for the Advancement of science. Still, these debates take place on sites such as climatedebatedaily.com or the worldwide conference that was held on June 6, 2015 that took place 79 countries. Both sides claim to have solid evidence that supports their theories, but it is evident to most scientists and corporations alike that the human race is creating our own destruction
Both sides of the argument have seemingly legitimate arguments for why they’re right and the opposing side is wrong. Contrary to popular belief, not all scientists believe that global warming is real while some conservatives believe that
The importance of climate change, which is always debatable, has now become more controversial. It is believed that climate change has serveral negative impacts, thus it needs to be studied. As far as I am concerned, I strongly concur with the argument that causes and solutions need to be investigated. This article will elaborate the antropogenic impacts and potential solutions and thus lead to a logical conclusion.
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
Over the years, global warming has gradually become a more renowned and controversial topic, some say Global warming has been incited by human activity, so humans should take action to slow down global warming, others say global warming happens naturally so there’s no use of stopping it, while some others don’t even know that Global Warming is happening. Many groups of people within different nations have different opinions of global warming correspondingly having various way of buffering the situation. The aim of my essay is to research and learn about the attitudes and actions of different
In recent years, the controversial subject of global warming has been more predominantly brought to our attention. Is the threat of global warming real? Is it man-made or is this just a natural cycle of earth? Does it really affect earth’s inhabitants? Should action be taken against it? If so, what kind and to what extent? It cannot be only a coincidence that the alarmingly rapid climate change coincides perfectly with the increased amount of pollutants that humans release into the environment. The once stable climate has in recent years begun to skyrocket, thus altering the delicate structure of earthly life. This proves to be hazardous to the future of the planet; some people worry that many of the resources the environment provides that
Global Warming is one of the more controversial topics in the world today. Some people feel that it is a big issue, while others don’t think as much about it. However, global warming has already proven itself to be a major problem we are encountering. A lot of people believe that this ‘warm spell’ is just that, a spell that’s going to pass with time. They think that the trends we are seeing are only part of a cycle and we have experienced them before. But if looked at the data, as well as the projected data scientists are now beginning to publish, they would see the degree of this ‘warm spell’ is many times worse than any people have ever had in the past. Global warming might be a new topic that causes people to react differently, but all large topics start out this way. As time goes on and humans continue to see the effects of global warming, it will become more accepted in our society because it won’t just be a controversial issue that we talk
In 1988, the United Nation reported that carbon dioxide levels are nearing a dangerous level of interference with the climate system so they have established the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) (ProQuest). Greenhouse gas concentrations such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are continuing to rise during 2014 and it is reaching historic values (International). A variety of independent datasets shows
‘What It Will Really Take To Stop Global Warming’ is an article from MacLeans that shows the how people are reacting to the global warming crisis, how they aren’t reacting, and what us as inhabitants of the Earth can do to prevent it. The data is slightly outdated, as it is almost ten years old, but the topic and the information it holds is still as relevant today as it was nine years ago.
When one encounters the concept and idea of global warming, we inquire a wide range of opinions, facts, assumptions, and philosophies. As the general population of the world, the idea
