Everyone has seen a public art, graffiti, statue, street performance or portrait sketching. But what defines a public art? Or, what factors should a successful public artwork have? Level of popularity? Rating on art forum or website? The conspicuous representation? Or the use of color? As the amount of artwork has been dramatically increasing, it gets harder and harder to distinguish street art and public art. Recently, within most artwork it contains more or less some marketing purposes that either target a specific age group or certain job.

Moreover, there is no repetition happening over all those neon lights hanged down at ANZ Tower, this deliberate move could implicate the idea of letting large amount of similar property objects to perform freely within a certain boundary and see what it would become. In addition, the hierarchies of height of each object are different and causes the audience would experience differently from different view-point.
This public artwork has a vogue division between public space and private space. Why is the boundary of spaces being vogue? A public art is defined as a media that has been planned and executed with the purpose of being displayed on the physical public domain, which is generally open or out on a site that is accessible to all. However, while the site visit happened, the staff at the building prefer the tour not staying there for over 10
A perfect example of the presence of artworks available for viewing is in graffiti. Graffiti is often a derogative term used to describe writing, drawing, or images placed on the surfaces of public buildings or areas. Although not considered fine art by many, as an expression of creativity and imagination, it falls under the category of artworks. What separates this form of artwork from those found in galleries is the atmosphere and environment that is attached to graffiti that cannot be replicated or found in art galleries. The raw nature of graffiti makes it appealing for viewers, however, the fact it is abundant in the urban environment justifies the idea that it can be viewed without the need for an art gallery.
The documentary Visions of Light was made for the purpose of showing the art of cinematography. Cinematography was defined throughout the film as the making of a motion picture. “I found out that I was unconsciously responding to light.” said by Ernest Dickerson an American film director and cinematographer. Light is thought of to be something so little but means so much in a film. It is used to change the emotion and to tell people where to look.
Many teenage kids have had the feeling before that they have tons of pressure on them. In Amy Tan’s novel The Joy Luck Club and H.G Bissinger’s novel Friday Night Lights teenagers have a difficult time dealing with all of the pressure that is being placed on them by their parents and the expectations that their parents have for them. In “Two Kinds” from Amy Tan’s novel the Joy Luck Club Jing Mei’s mother is trying to push her to become a prodigy and Jing Mei is beginning to crack under the pressure. Also in H.G Bissinger’s “Dreaming of Heroes” Mike Winchell is trying to live up to his late father’s legacy of being a great Permian football player.
Public art conquers so much more than the simple task of making the street a little easier to look at. It involves those who created it, those who supplied the means to create it, and those whose lives it continues to impact. Wall paintings in particular take an important role in working for a greater good. Judith F. Baca, a Hispanic-American woman and artist- activist has contributed an unaccountable amount to the mural movement in Los Angeles. She has accomplished this by giving individuals the chance to create art and develop a sense of pride, she has taught younger generations a respect for their ethnic identity, and from the many walks of life that continue to view her
As you enter Brett whiteleys studio in Sydney you are overwhelmed with his experinces and feel as if you are standing in whiteleys imagination. The high white and wide spread room creates a blank canvas like space, and the opportunity to take a journey with the artworks like whitely would have travelled creating them. You can feel the intamiacy and heart, put into in the artworks as you step into not only his gallery but his home showing art was truly his life. Studio walls covered in quotes, photographs and sovenirs scattered along to bookshelf and you discover that you are experiencing what influenced and inspired whitely in creation of the series “other places”
"A core function of public art and art in general — (is) to expose the public to artworks and initiate debate about art and aesthetic concerns, public places
Public art and the ability to express oneself through any medium such as murals, sculpture, body art and tattoos, and fashion are all things protected under the First Amendment protecting citizens rights to Free Speech, Free Press and Freedom of Expression. The act of attempting to copyright and place a fee on certain aspects of a city’s culture and community encroaches on those rights. According to the artist behind the Bean, Anish Kapoor, “his work allows people to see Chicago’s version of itself” highlighting the importance of public art as a way for people to view a city’s vision of itself (Smith, D). One of the beauties of public art, such as the Bean or Murals in neighborhoods like Pilsen, is that they are open to everyone. No one needs to pay to see them or go to a museum, which comes with societal expectations. Once a city starts to act as a business, protecting their assets and looking for revenue wherever possible, the aspect of street art and public works as spontaneous and indicative of the culture in which the art is located becomes a commercial item meant for a profit. If the City of Chicago could justify placing a fee on photographs of the Bean as protecting the artist from unauthorized photos, how would one draw the line on the city placing fees on other popular works in the city such as the Picasso Sculpture at Daley Plaza or the famous murals of historic events in Latino culture. While many neighborhoods have taken to protecting and preserving their own culture and art, allowing a city to take ownership and privatize aspects of the city’s culture becomes a slippery slope in which there is no clear point at which they

In art, the subject of space and time can be closely linked together especially in the case of large scultupres. Christo and Jeanne-Claude created many large environmental works of art that took a lot of space to make, thus their pieces could only be considered temporary and be up for a very short amount of time. One of their most important pieces, The Gates, took roughly 30 years to produce and was only on display for two weeks. Thus, if a piece is considered to contain a large amount of space in a public area it’s time on display will not be as long as smaller more permanent pieces.
From reading The Kind of Light That Shines on Texas the main point of this story is based on an African American boy name Clint, who was forced to deal with his own racism before seeing his African American classmates as fully human in the classroom including his teacher of a predominantly white primary school in Waco, Texas.

In Wright and An alto's houses, a powerful sense of insides is generate by opacity. Which, in Falling water is express in roughly dressed stone masonry walls and, in Villa Mairea. By white-painted, solid walls. The transparency of glass windows in both houses thereby connect the two. In both houses, the architects created a strong sense of insideness yet, at the same time, devised ways to connect inside and outside and thereby create a robust continuity between the two. This inside-outside relationship can be translate into environmental and architectural experience in four different ways: (1) in-betweeness; (2) interpenetration generated by inside; (3) interpenetration generated by outside; and (4)
Art: the ultimate form of self expression. But, what constitutes an art? And, who decides? These very questions plague society as it tries to decide and define the official status of graffiti--art or vandalism? Because it has found its way into art galleries and because of the community of artists who challenge and inspire each other, graffiti should be considered art and as a way to express oneself.
“Any drawn line that speaks about identity, dignity, and unity is art,” (Chaz Bojorquey) is a statement that I agree with. Art is perceived differently from all people based on their culture, religion, personal taste, and many other factors. I believe that as long as what has been created is meaningful to either the creator or even to somebody that is viewing it, it should be considered art. Art in the public is a very controversial subject that brings up the important question of, “Should public art be considered as real art,” personally I think that it should be. I believe that the difference between art that is placed in a gallery and art that is visible by a community is the fact that what is acceptable in a gallery
When trying to define art, humankind runs in to many difficulties. Traditional concepts of art include painting, sculpture, drawing, and photography. Art can also be one
