SAP Material Management (MM) is part of the logistics area and is often integrated with production and manufacturing facilities. SAP MM has features of handling procurement (purchasing) and inventory management of companies that engages in large volumes of goods purchasing. This will be performed by allowing them with hands-on control of below activities

• Client management
• Valuation
• Invoice verification

This will intern will compared with other vendors to evaluate the price. As an end user, this will help me to compare the price with other vendors to choose the vendor to deliver the goods
• Material Master for Trading Goods
In this case study, Material CHLO1103 has created with different views. This material can be processed through different views. As an end user, this help to view the warehouse Supervisor aspects before extending material master
• Stock Requirements List can be created
This will help to display the stock and Requirements list including the demand that is already exist against this product. But, in this exercise the result is found as no stock. Means there is no stock recorded currently.
• Purchase Requisition
In SAP MM, this process step has involved Sales Management and purchasing department to create a Purchase requisition which is commencing in three months. So that a vendor can be selected to purchase required materials to fulfill the needs of sales complain.
After this step, the Stock/Requirements can be listed with one record for requirements
• Quotation
It is a wanted means that gets you price cuts which you can try to make
This process reduced not just customer’s satisfaction but also profit; there is a need for a financial information management to integrate all their business processes. SAP (System Applications Program) was introduced to the company to ensure efficient communication among the different modules of the business process.
1. Material Master contains descriptions of all materials that an enterprise procures, produces, keeps in stock and sell; it is the basic building block of all supply chain management activity and also the central repository of material information for the company.
Mr. Aly Tapily is working as a Material Data Analyst. Under the supervision of the MPR Control Manager he is tasked to provide manager services per assigned work by Industrial Engineering Manager and Supply Chain Manager. Aly’s primary function in this position is to analyze and monitor the quality of data from Engineering and Industrial documents during product manufacturing by analyzing data collected to find discrepancies. To successfully complete this task, he needs to have an ability to read and understand engineering drawings/schematics, a good understanding of electrical and mechanical components needing in production, and good statistical analysis skills. Aly is also responsible for extracting required data from the company’s database and ERP system or other systems used for Bill of Materials (BOM) and procurement. He then has to report findings in clear concise format to project managers for resolution. These duties among others, while working on the different projects, will help Aly’s knowledge of different engineering procedures taking during product manufacturing, process analysis and control, project management, database technology, data reporting skills, and statistical skills learned through his engineering degree.
The present organizational chart of the SC Department in the company includes two buyers, one material control clerk, one expeditor and two shipper/receivers. This structure was functional to the previous strategy because there was a strong focus on the purchasing function. We believe that in order to maximize the SC Department resources in accordance with the new structure the positions and functions of the people with the SC Department will have to be adapted to strengthen the inventory management function of the company. There company could benefit from having one person responsible for forecasting demand. Processes should be reviewed to ensure that the SC Department has sufficient access to information in order to achieve this task. Re-buying will also be of utmost importance now in order to ensure that there is always sufficient inventory to maintain production going.
Next, she told me about SAP. According to her, SAP is standard application software for real-time business processing. Basically, it is used for financial management, customer relationship management, and inventory and warehousing management. I asked her to discuss why they shifted from legacy to SAP. Then she asked me to analyze and discuss few advantages and disadvantages of SAP. This is what I analyzed and discussed with her;
Labor-intensive purchasing process is an expensive and low value-added work. Currently, the company has no centralized management to perform strategic purchasing. It was a concern that whether employees would come up with speed to the dramatic changes coming from re-engineering. Some of multiple hand-offs between department look complicated and redundant. I did not learn how to balance school and work; therefore, my grades dropped. I transferred to Louisiana State University Shreveport for summer classes in 2011.
