For my assignment, I chose to use the mission statement of the company Telephone and Data Systems Incorporated (TDS). TDS is a strong standing company based in Chicago, Illinois, with a branch office in Middleton, Wisconsin, that has served and satisfied approximately 6 million customers served nationwide. This particular company sells wireless and cable broadband as well as TV and voice services. who claims that their mission statement is the following "At TDS, our mission is to provide outstanding communications services to our customers and meet the needs of our shareholders, our people, and our communities." There are many things that contribute to making a business successful, such as a good strategic plan that includes the mission, vision, and values for an organization. The mission is the basic purpose of the organization, as well as its scope of operations. It is a statement of the organization’s reason for existing and the shared purpose of the people in the organization. The mission often is written in terms of the general clients it services. Depending on the scope of the organization, the mission may be broad or narrow (Snell, Morris, Bohlander, 2014). For example, I work for a well-known hospital in Ohio and the mission is to provide better care of the sick, investigation into their problems, and further education of those who serve.

The Texas State Teacher Association (TSTA) is a non-governmental association that was formed to make changes on the way public schools, their students, and employees are treated. The Texas State Teacher Association mission statement is, “The Texas State Teachers Association will unite, organize and empower public education advocates to shape public education in Texas thus providing a quality public school for every child.” (about-tsta). Mary Kneeling is a supervisor for library media services for Newport News, and she was a past president of the Virginia association of school librarians. Mary has done a large amount of research on the topic to compose a detailed article on mission statements. Mary Keeling begins her article by defining what a mission statement is. She states “Mission statements define the nature, purpose, and role of organizations; focus resources; and guide planning” (Kneeling, 2013). After defining and explaining the purpose of a mission statement, Mary goes into detail on the purpose of a mission statement. She explains that it can be used as a communication device. Mission statements, help to motivate employees and have a reason behind the business that claims to it (Kneeling, 2013). Introduction Missional, is a term that seems to have taken its place in the church of today. The term is not foreign, but one that many have come to understand. Prior to launching into seminary school, I became familiar with the term, and possibly used it, however, I fully understood the term missional, upon taking this class. I also understand the purpose of the term missional and the characteristics of it as well. When God set the world into place the missional church was on the rise.
It is important to have a vision statement for the workplace and to follow the vision/mission to maintain values and ethical behavior. It seems that TDOC focus much on safety regarding employees and inmates. As you stated without the vision statement it will cause problems among the organizations. However, with strong management working to uphold the principles of the facility makes an organization run well by having the employees following the vision as well.
Student Answer: Most every company has a mission and vision statement, but some companies do poor jobs conveying the true intention or depth of these statements. The mission statement should state its purpose and drive its collective efforts. The vision statement should state its desired future and drive its strategic plan (MacLeod, L. (2016). The Corps makes leaders, that’s the Mission Statement. However, the Corps falls short of that goal. The policies which maintain that this institution builds free thinking leaders, breeds vexatious micromanagers. Outfits are losing their own identity and a sense of pride, and Cadets are not given the opportunity to grow as leaders in a Senior Military College; a college that produces more officers than any other school besides the Academies.
