The Syrian Civil War is responsible for the taking the lives of about 470,000 people; 55,000 of which were children. The war broke out when rebels in Syria started to protest and fight against the government. It has said to be the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. The war has effected people of all ages making them flee, suffer from mental illnesses, and suffer from great poverty. Because of the tragic war in Syria, millions of people have had to flee. A writer named Doug Collins said that a terrorist group called ISIS is located in Syria. This is a pro-rape, pro-mutilation, and pro-torture organization which very few would like to encounter. The author also said that of about 2,000 women and children that have immigrated to the US, a vast majority of them have had to see their husbands or fathers killed and have been victims of torture. According to an article on “National Geographic,” citizens in terror have to get out of the country by any vehicle they can find. They pack full buses, cars, tractors with trailers, but if in an emergency, people travel by foot. Trouble comes along way they meet the borders. Most do not have the papers to allow them to cross the borders; the men in uniforms stop them. The refugees have no choice but to walk. “National …show more content…

“The Borgen Project” has said that three out of four refugees live in poverty. The United States has given Syria 3 million dollars to help with aid, but this is nowhere near enough. “Public Finance International” said that 70% of refugees are living below the poverty line. This is millions of people living off government money. This percentage is growing, too. “WFP” stated in their article about refugees in poverty that many parents struggle to feed their children. With little nutrients, these families get weak and have fatigue. As a result, mental illnesses have affected the lives of many
