Styles of leadership have a direct impact on quality in healthcare. A skillful leader leads an organization towards accomplishing goals. Strong leadership is in demand in healthcare. The role of the leader has a great significance on healthcare policies. There are numerous leadership styles applied to healthcare. Among these leadership styles are transformational, complexity, and emotionally/behaviorally intelligent leadership. One leadership style alone will not prove to be successful. In today’s rapidly there is a need leader’s to use all of the tools they have available to be successful, while driving costs down and quality up.

Complexity leadership is the opposite of many traditional leadership styles that control change and actions from outside the organization.. Complexity leadership operates from within the organization’s system to encourage the ability to adapt and rise to change. A complexity leader thinks about how the system impacts the organization. Positive feedback loops encourage variability in the organization’s system. Positive feedback may be found in the informal culture of the unit. Negative feedback loops are actions and behaviors that diminish change and cause the system to become more stable. Positive and negative feedback loops generate a continuous push and pull effect. Throughout time, many books and papers have been written to study the birthplace of leadership failure, its causes, results, and ultimately, the best way to oversea these situations to avoid future failures. Some leadership experts, may argue that the best way to learn how to lead, is to study successful leadership outcomes and more importantly, how former miscalculations were committed and as a result, what gran plan was used that resulted in the leaders turnaround success. To be a great leader, the individual has to be cognate of what elements, including external and internal impact, resulted in their failure, as well as, how to avoid leadership oversight in the future. (Govier, 2009). The difference between management and leadership is that management is concerned mainly with order and consistency while leadership is centered on change and movements. Management focuses on controlling complex process while leadership is about challenging existing ways of doing things and setting new directions in organizations.
