Compensation and Benefits Administration
You just finish analysing information for the current compensation and benefits program information. You find that some changes should be made, as the majority of employees (you have 120 employees) are unhappy with what is been offered. In fact, the plan had not been revised in over fifteen years, making it dated and definetly ready for some changes.
One of the major points of contention is the Paid Time Off (PTO) the organizationoffers. Employees feel the current system of sick time and vacation time offers too few options. For example, one employee says, "I often come to work sick, so I can still have my vacation time for my vacation. Another, "I have given nine years to this organization, but I recieve only three days more than someone who has just started."
Here is the current PTO offerings.
1 + year | 7 days |
5 + years | 10 days |
10 + years | 14 days |

- “Carter Cleaning Company” The Career Planning Program Career planning has always been a pretty low-priority item for Carter Cleaning, since "just getting workers to come to work and then keeping them honest is enough of a problem," as Jack likes to say. Yet Jennifer thought it might not be a bad idea to give some thought to what a career planning program might involve for Carter. Many of their employees had been with them for years in dead end jobs, and she frankly felt a little badly for them: "Perhaps we could help them gain a better perspective on what they want to do," she thought. And she definitely believed that the store management group needed better career direction if Carter Cleaning was to develop and grow. Question: 1. Outline and describe the career development program you would propose for the cleaners, pressers, counter people, and managers at the Carter Cleaning Centers.Provide a detailed review of the compensation and/or benefit challenge (problem) at Home depo. It is recommended that you concentrate on one compensation and/or benefit challenge(s) within the organization. Be careful to avoid selecting a topic that is too broad. At the same time, the challenge facing the organization should be broad enough to provide multiple strategies to help resolve the problem.a) Different methods available for task analysis and each method has some advantages anddisadvantages. For the past one year, the company has been facing employee turnover in the sales team. The new software purchased for data analytics is also not working properly and the team struggles when they have to make a report. Apart from these issues, your team might be required, in the coming six months, to start working on a new product development. Finally, the day comes when you make the presentation but just as you complete and about to say: `Any questions?’ one of the team leads raises his voice and says:` How can you expect us to double the sales next year when we have been struggling so hard?’ He then elaborates in agitated tone all the problems the team has been facing (as stated above). Since downsizing typically involved shrinking theorganization's workforce, it was a human resource management issue. Can some of you remember VSS? Some employees loved it, some deplored it like it was an epidemic sweepingthe country! Many organizations had done a fairly good job of helping layoff victims by offering a variety of job-help services, psychological counseling, support groups, severance salary, extended healthinsurance benefits and even finding jobs with other companies. This assistance offered revealed that the organization did care about its former employees. What are the key concepts in human resource management and how have they impacted organizational practice and performance? Discuss in detail.> And this may come across as fairly, you know, weak, but we're trying to encourage people to talk about their priorities. And kind of raise a hand when they feel like the projects that have been put on them are too much. So that's, the honest is really on the manager to figure that out. But it's also on the employee to basically raise a flag and say, look, this is a little bit too much. And that's not met with any kind of combination or, you know, repercussion. It's just like, actually that's a good thing, thank you for bringing that up. Let's do that again. when you get more granular and you look at certain areas. So and those are the spots we're going to really work on improving. » Okay, great. > Saying that we're more efficient than our competitors is a bit of speculation. I don't know their books, I don't see their books. But I know that we are able to beat their prices by five percent. So the fact that we're able to do that and stay in business tells me we're doing something…Human resource management.1.
