Interpretation: The results of linear combination of
Concept introduction: Linear combinations of basis sets that are composed of stretching vectors of the molecule is said to be SALCs (Symmetry Adapted Linear Combinations), used to determine symmetries and binding schemes.
A systematic way to find out the method of combination of atomic orbitals to give correct group orbitals (SALCs) is projection operator method.

Suppose that a molecular orbital has the (unnormalized) form 0.727A + 0.144B. Find a linear combination of the orbitals A and B that is orthogonal to this combination and determine the normalization constants of both combinations using S = 0.117. Show full and complete procedure, indicating where and how you are using the value of S
Use as a basis the 2pz orbitals on each atom in BF3 to find the representative of the operation σh. Take z as perpendicular to the molecular plane.
Set up the secular determinants for (i) linear H4, (ii) cyclic H4 within the Hückel approximation.
