The bond result from the electrostatic force of attraction between oppositely charged ions is called ionic bond and the bond result from the mutual sharing of electrons between atoms is called covalent bond.
The covalent bond that results from unequal sharing of electrons between atoms is called polar covalent bond. Polar covalent bonds arise when the electronegativities of the two atoms are not equal.
Nonpolar covalent bonds arise when the electronegativities of the two atoms are equal and electrons are shared equally.
