Genetically modified organisms (GMO) are plants and animals that have been biologically engineered with the DNA of other plants, animals, bacteria, etc. Such modifications and combinations cannot occur in nature through crossbreeding or by other organic means. While GMO’s are commonplace in the vast majority of our marketplace, information and facts about them is not. Information can be found, but it must be sought out from different sources from our Government, Educational Institute’s and Non Profit Organizations. The debate over genetically engineered foods, and the disclosure of what exactly is being done to them, has become a hot button topic. Level one does not state that there is no danger and never will be a danger, it states that there is not a danger for the time being. However, if a government is willing to feed these products to its people, you would assume they are safe for consumption. Ironically enough, more than 60 countries in the world have strict restrictions on the sale and production of GMOs, if they haven 't completely banned them. Some may think there is safety in just buying organically grown vegetables, but the risk is much more vast than that, especially if you are a meat eater. GMO corn is fed to most farm animals as it is very inexpensive. Farmed fish are also experiencing the same issue, and the only safe alternative is wild caught fish and other aquatic life. The majority of all packaged food and fast food is made with genetically engineered products. If a product doesn 't contain a USDA organic or NON-GMO seal, chances are you are consuming one or more of these products. With all of these factors, various organizations are reaching out to the American people to follow in other countries footsteps. "The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) urges doctors to prescribe non-GMO diets for all patients. They cite animal studies showing organ damage, gastrointestinal and immune system disorders, accelerated aging, and infertility."3 (ResponsibleTechnology.org). There is
