The Preamble is the mission statement of the United States. To achieve the Preamble objectives, it needs money, to attain that, the Federal Budget is used. The Preamble objectives help the government decide how the money is spent in the budget. In each of the three budget clusters, the U.S government should make adjustments in the way it is distributing the money: changes involving the Big Five, Changes involving the Middle Five, and Change involving the Little Guys. One would say that the government is not correctly dividing the budget the correctly and that some modifications could be made. The Big Five is one of the three clusters that need adjustments. With the budget, the government is able to give support to families to meet the necessary …show more content…
With that being said, one would wonder if all the categories in the Big Five are equally distributed or if the money that is out in one category could be better spent in a different category. One might think that the national debt should be increased. It is essential that the national debt be increased since the country is in deep debt. As stated in Document C, the U.S has more than $10 trillion in debt. Being so deep in debt can disturb our already fragile economy and borrowing additional money can threaten the livelihoods of Americans. One category that could be decreased is Defense. The cartoon in Document F shows President Obama writing the budget, and three figures standing before him, two small ones and one big …show more content…
Its five categories are Veteran’s benefits and services, Transportation, Education, Justice and Homeland Security. The category that needs to be increased is education. Document D asks, “Do you think the federal government should play a larger role in education?” the answer is yes. Therefore as Americans, we have a right to education and deserve to obtain the best there is. Education should be increased since most schools need the money. Some schools need to construct improvements and renovations in order to upgrade the school, and then cannot due to not having enough money. According to Document B, the budget pays less than $100 billion for education. The document also states that, “about 90% of education money comes from state and local taxes” (Document B). Having said that, a person might believe, that it is in the country’s best interest if the government gave more money to education. If the government were to put extra money into education, everyone would have a chance to acquire an education and schools would be able to get fresh money. The Preamble objective education addresses is general welfare. General welfare is key for the reason that it takes care of the citizens, as quoted in this line “…a strong national government in order to build a strong economy so that all people could live a decent life by working, buying property, and “pursuing happiness”” (Document A). Money could be taken out of transportation and
The preamble played a vital role in shaping America as it is today. Three of the many national goals stated in this essential document include forming a more perfect union, establishing justice, and promoting the general welfare of every citizen. All of these goals have been achieved to some degree since the conception of the document and America continues to thrive and push forward, still as much in its’ prime as it was years ago.
“…thirteen powerful, independent, disunited States are in the habit off…refusing to obey our national Congress…I pray that we can act in time to prevent the bad things we fear may happen.” George Washington wrote this in a letter to John Jay (Doc 3). Even the man who is immediately thought of when talking about the start of our nation thought that without a new set of guidelines to run our country by, the young country would eventually break apart and the fighting of the higher powers would begin again. The reasons George thought this way was because of how week the Articles of Confederation actually were, also because all the different foreign problems that the country as a whole faced, and another big
The Preamble; a profound one sentence prelude to the Constitution. It states the purpose and gives outlook to why the constitution was established and its intent. The Preamble comprises of bold words and phrases that highlight key points to the meaning of the document. It summarizes six different goals or reasons to what the constitution plans to uphold. Those six goals, were intended to creat greatness to the country and show what the United states would stand for, life and pursuit to happiness.
Answer: The Preamble was the introduction to the constitution. It had all the purposes, fundamentals and goals of the government, which was established by the Constitution.
With the numbers totaled the defense budget is currently sitting at a solid 3.5 percent of our GDP and there are still questions on how much more we can put in to make this country safe. The White House is calling for more money to be spent on national defense and their economists say that the United States can withstand a gross spending of somewhere around 9 to 10 percent of our GDP. The money to pay for any
Overspending is a pertinent problem facing the lawmakers in Congress. In 2012 discretionary spending reached $1.3 trillion and mandatory spending $2 trillion, while only bringing in $2.5 trillion in revenue. Since the turn of the century back in 2000, non-mandatory spending by the government has topped out a whopping $16.1 trillion just in the past 13 years (Boccia, Frasser & Goff 2013). This persistent overspending on programs and services that are not necessary to the functionality of the country is what is causing the deficit to rise year after year. To remedy this issue the government must either increase the revenue it brings in through taxes and trade or reduce the amount of money it spend or perhaps even both. In 2012 thirty-one cents of every dollar that Washington spent was borrowed (Boccia, Frasser & Goff 2013). Most of which went to large programs such as Social Security and Medicare and if these large, growing programs, or just the budget in general, do not undergo financial reform it could spell disaster for the economy and fiscal state of the nation.
In Peter Charles Hoffer’s For Ourselves and Our Posterity, he talks about how the preamble to the constitution was such a transcendent idea. Hoffer talks about how the way the preamble was written it has been able to adjust and adapt to the needs of the nation over time. In analyzing this novel Hoffer makes many interesting and compelling arguments in saying that the preamble has been one of the most influential pieces of work in helping develop this country. After reading this book and looking at the civil war, the presidency of FDR, and the presidencies of JFK and Lyndon B. Johnson. I have found that I agree with Hoffer’s opinion.
“The federal budget is the yearly plan for how the US government will spend the money it takes from taxes and borrowing.” After thoroughly analyzing the federal budget from 2012, it is unquestionably evident that a majority of the money is being put into a few major categories, leaving room for the rest of the smaller categories to be financially neglected. Is this fair? It seems that the money could be more fairly distributed, and that there is room for cuts in some of the larger categories, to improve the littler ones. In each of the three budget clusters, the US Government should make adjustments in the way it is distributing money; changes involving the big five, the middle
Budgeting is perhaps the most essential process involved in the United States government. While this process seems to exist only in the background, it is, in reality, what allows all other processes of government to function as they do. In order to satisfy the most necessities of modern society, changes must be made to each of the three major categories of the budget: the big five, the middle five, and the little guys.
After 1776, radical change occurred that led our forefathers to create The Preamble. This document is the opening statement to the United States Constitution. Its purpose is to explain why the men writing the Constitution created our government. The Preamble does not provide any laws or assign any certain kind of power. It delivers what the founding fathers intentions were when they wrote the Constitution. The United States had some successes and unfortunately some failures when it came to accomplishing its goals during its early ascendancy because they were able to make the U.S. safe at high costs, and was able to make themselves into a powerhouse of a country.
Answer: If there is a difference in the spending of government and the in income will lead to the deficits. More over deficits occurs when the amount of government total budget exceeds its total receipt for a fiscal year was said by US senate budget committee. From the US debit clock, largest budget items list are medical, social security, defense/war, income security, net interest on debt, federal pensions. As we can see that the largest budget items every item has its own importance for Medicare the budget is $949 billions, social security is $872 billions, defense is $591 billion, income security is $310 billions, net interest on debt is $245 billion, and federal pensions is $253 billion. A cut back in the spending of the government is not an easy task because which lead to so many issues. Every items has got his own importance consider defense which is a national importance, medical which is health importance, likewise every items has got their own importance. I would recommend cut back on income security in which the budget is allotted to maintain forester care, earned income credit, unemployment compensation, nutrition assistance, family support, making work pay this is meant for the citizens of the social welfare.
Some would say that the government is not correctly dividing the budget the correctly and that some modifications could be made. The Big Five is one of the three clusters that need adjustments. With the budget, the government is able to give support to families to meet the necessary

The third category, spending and interest, accounts for the littlest of the three categories. In lament terms, Social security, military and healthcare account for the majority of our budget. This is no surprise because Social Security and healthcare are both mandatory spending (services our programs we rely on) and the military is discretionary spending (services or programs we rely on), and as stated above, this accounts for the majority of our spending, thus our debt. We rely on these services on a daily basis, and the baby boomers continue to age, the cost spends on social security and Medicare will continue to grow. The same goes for healthcare. As healthcare continues to be costly, the amount spent on Medicaid and insurance providers will continue to grow as well. After reading and understanding where the money is spent, when I took the Concord Coalition’s Federal Budget Challenge, I had a better realization of how little things can improve the deficit in big ways.
Within the federal government’s budget education is among the most important yet in the year of 2012 the federal government only spent $107.6 billion out of 3.7 trillion which amounts to 3% on education. Compared to other funding categories in the government’s fiscal year of 2012's budget it's clear to see that education isn’t as important to the government officials as they would like us to believe. Many Americans today are lead to believe that education is important to government officials and it receives an adequate amount of funding because they don't know how much funding is put into the other categories of the budget. The funding put into education in the year 2012 is only 1/8 of social security spending and 1/5 of Medicare
