Chapter 33, Problem 14TYK
Summary Introduction

To review:

The African violets and other flowering plants are propagated using leaf cuttings commercially. The types of cell in the original leaf that give rise to the new structures. The property of the cells that makes this method possible need to be discussed here.

Introduction:

Vegetative propagation is a process by which a new plant is produced through vegetative plant parts. Plants have meristematic cells that are capable of differentiating into plant parts if cultured in a growth medium.

Students have asked these similar questions
Arrange the following subset of cell depreciation during plant growth ( in length ) in the correct sequence . 1) cell division in primary meristem . 2) cell division in apical meristem . 3) differentiated cells . 4) growing cells in primary meristem.
Growers often wrap potted plants in plastic sleeves prior to shipping. If plants remain in these sleeves too long, their leaves curl and fall off. Imagine you are working at a garden center and have been asked to make a presentation to a local garden club.Question: Explain the processes that may cause the leaves to drop and fall.
Look at As shown. Part (A) shows the lower half of a fusiform initial (actually most fusiform initials would be much taller than this), and part (B) shows the same cell after it has divided and one of the daughter cells is developing into a xylem cell. Did the fusiform initial divide with a periclinal wall or an anticlinal wall as it went from part a to part b? Part (D) shows that the same fusiform initial has now produced a second cell that is developing into a phloem cell. Was that phloem cell produced by a periclinal or an anticlinal division of the fusiform initial? Part (F) shows the fusiform initial dividing and forming a second fusiform initial. Is this division occurring by a periclinal wall or an anticlinal wall?
