The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the Nu Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. My desire to have the opportunity to become a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated is grounded on encounters, characteristics and the prestige purpose and history of the fraternity.

I will also promote organization, such as by implementing the use of Best Buddies Binders, where officers can place notes from both officer meetings and chapter meetings, all meeting agendas, attendance sheets, donation sheets, and other important documents. To improve as a chapter, at the end of each quarter officers and advisors will meet and complete evaluations as a group based on what we have improved on and what we need to improve on. We will pinpoint what worked well and what we should do differently to provide the best possible Best Buddies experience for all. We will also continue to utilize social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Remind 101, by updating these accounts with pictures, videos, stories, and announcements weekly. If selected as CP, I would also work with officers and advisors to spread the message of Best Buddies and increase membership, such as by having an announcement at Freshmen Orientation and “advertising” Best Buddies in our school magazine and/or on the BMHS Pride Time Instagram

Advisory Board: The Advisory Board Specialists are Julie Carley Reilly, Puget Sound, and Nicole Pitsinos, South Carolina. Their role is to assist Advisory Boards with recruiting new advisers as well as to identify and train local alumnae to volunteer for chapter events. The Zeta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Iota Rho (ΣΙΡ) is new. The two most challenging aspects of any new organization are recognition and legitimacy. I would tackle the first challenge by organizing events and fundraisers for members and potential members. Outreach is key for a young organization to be heard and noticed by members of the campus community. I would tackle the second challenge by assisting the executive board in the organization of seminars and panels featuring topics related to International Studies. This would also include contacting potential guest speakers from Washington to speak. I could also be the point of contact between ΣΙΡ and other campus organizations (i.e. Model UN) to ensure the consistency of our goals. I would use the ΣΙΡ website to discover new resources for our chapter. Finally, I would uphold the values of ΣΙΡ, encourage participation and lead by example.

With new leadership, the officers recommended that the old officers would show them the ropes of how the chapter worked. Each officer met with the previous officer who held their position. Once that was done the officer team decided to do a fellowship activity to understand each other and become family.
