PERSONAL STATEMENT “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” - Malcom X. Ending the various phases of my education thus far, I have noticed an increasing demand for a more extensive role of an engineer. An engineer with a wide range of knowledge and broad base of technical skills cutting across several engineering disciplines. I am a young Civil Engineering graduate from Covenant University with a lifelong objective to be a resourceful Structural/Environmental Engineer, becoming highly efficient and an innovative team player among sound Environmental/Structural Professionals in achieving organizational goals considering economy, environment and factor of safety with precision and accuracy. …show more content…
I wasn’t able to carry out the presentation during short notice because I was undergoing compulsory 1-year service to Nigeria through National Youth Service Corp program. Presently the paper is waiting for presentation. The particular career path in structural Engineering that I have chosen to follow is the aspect of analysis, design and assessment of Infrastructures. This is in view of becoming an expert Structural Engineer and infrastructure Designer that is relevant and instrumental to infrastructural development in my Society. I therefore hope to advance my studies in Structural Engineering and Environmental Engineering in order to get equipped with necessary skills to tackle the complexity posed by this type of infrastructure. My preference for choosing Dalhousie University is based on the high level of student satisfaction and great graduate prospects that alumni have testified about. Also the rich academic content with modules like Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, etc. will help me expand/develop my knowledge, skills and capability in the analysis and designs of safe
Personal Statement There are voluminous different jobs in the world, and with that there comes many different people. With lots of different people there comes lots of colleges for different fields that people want to complete, and make a living with that. Well with me I want to make a living welding and fabricating. I come with a wide verities of expertly in this field because I started at a very young age. I can work with stainless steel, sheet medal, square tubing, angel iron and lots, more.
Primarily, as a building surveyor the main goal is to help create, look after, care and improve buildings and structures by promoting the development of energy efficient buildings, ensuring buildings and structures are safe and accessible and meet all building legal requirements. All of this is achieved by doing all relevant tasks in relation to the work at hand in an effective manner. The job requires one to go to different locations to inspect and examine the land or any building structure present, to approve or disallow further development of any building or structure based on all the legal requirements. They collect measurements and provide boundaries for the design and all the size and placement of the structure to make sure it is accurate. Advise and solutions are given on buildings and structures that can be improved or have errors in them already, as well as providing an estimate of how much it would cost to make or refurbish. Building surveying also can involve drawing and designing plans and incorporating the design ideas to estimate how much the development would cost. As part of the job, it is a must for a building surveyor to go through all legal matters and regulations. one example of what a building surveyor does is working along the railway lines. As evident, when travelling currently along the south eastern Cranbourne/Pakenham line. With the current project going on, removing level crossings in Melbourne’s south east. Creating new underground or alternatively sky rails for a reduced level of traffic jams on the roads. The role of a building surveyor in this instance involves stages in planning, development and construction to make sure all the rails, stations and all other structures are measured and placed accurately and
I have always known that I wanted to attend a top-tier university. The other details came later; the small size, the proximity to an urban hub, and my major itself. For a while, I was convinced that it would not happen; that I just wouldn’t get in. Now, I realize that I have an opportunity to do so. This is an opportunity I do not intend to waste.
After high school you are told to be responsible, go to college, and live a full life. One of the most influential decisions you will ever make is your choice in higher education at the collegiate level. Boise State University, being one of the most popular universities in Idaho, is an amazing school with great culture, athletics, and academics. Located in Boise Idaho everywhere you go there is orange and blue. Pride of the beloved school overwhelms the city and surrounding areas. On the other hand Idaho State University prides itself on it’s academics. While they do have athletics; nothing in Idaho can beat Boise State. People ask which school is the best? Each school has different strengths, and it’s own aspects that make the school unique.
My education and work experience have been great preparation for a career in this field. Engineering, by nature, requires strong analytical and problem solving skills. Even outside the classroom, I have learned to look at a situation and break it down systematically. Sometimes when a direct solution is not possible, an optimal alternative or repurpose is appropriate. For example, I worked
it is a very prominent and successful school. I have also received my Bachelor of Science degree at

Students learn about building and maintaining bridges, airports, highways, railroads, buildings and reservoirs. This construction degree requires knowledge of business, economics, management and engineering. Construction engineering is different from construction management because students focus on the math, science and engineering principles used to design projects, analyze problems and create quality solutions. Students learn about commercial, residential, transportation and infrastructure designs, plans, systems and models. They learn about cost estimating, project planning, staff scheduling, material procurement, equipment selection and temporary structures. Graduates will work in the construction industry and enjoy the status of a being professional
First, as a current resident of Saint Louis, its location is the most appealing factor to me. Moreover, great reputation of the program, is another important criterion for choosing it. Speaking with some of the students regarding the faculty, opportunities after graduation, as well as the output of the program, gave me enough confidence that your program would be the best fit for me.
Certain factors make or break a school for everyone. Each factor is incredibly important to how people function and develop the intense school pride that earnestly makes them proud to call their college home. For me, these factors reach beyond what naturally catches the eye, such as Rice’s beautiful campus or stellar academics. Instead, I’m drawn to Rice’s honor code.
My future aspiration is to work as a civil engineer with a focus on transportation, specifically designing roads and highways. I plan to take transportation-related
Along with engineering, I have a deep interest in sustainability and environmental protection. Most of my life was spent on tropical islands, being born in the Philippines and schooled in
I as an electrical engineer pursuing my master in electrical and electronic engineering developed a skill to solve the problem. During my bachelors, I studied natural and physical science and basic fundamentals that are required in the engineering field and also gained vast knowledge how to identify and tackle new problem in the practical world.
I maintained a high academic profile ranking among the top 6% of my graduating class. During my undergraduate study, it was the field of Transportation Engineering that caught my special interest and ever since I have strived hard to achieve my dream of becoming a Transportation Engineer. My interest for Transportation Engineering was sparked by courses, Transportation Engineering and Highway Engineering in my third year. These courses introduced me to the fundamentals of traffic engineering and geometric design of roads respectively. As part of the course requirements, we undertook a mini project where we carried out traffic survey and subsequently undertook traffic analysis for a major road in Kumasi, Ghana. We also carried out parking studies on campus, carried out analysis and presented our results through a presentation. Subsequently, I chose Transportation Engineering as one of my electives in final year. To augment the theoretical knowledge gained in class I interned at Ussuya Construction Limited during vacations, where I gained knowledge on surveying, supervision of road works on the construction of the Spintex Road
I am applying to pursue a course in Structural Engineering because it provides an ideal background to broaden my perspective and give me the opportunity to work on my current research interests that lie in the fields of earthquake engineering, bridge engineering and structural control &
