A movie is on. The characters are exchanging dialogue, while a tune is subtly playing in the background. One can assume the emotion felt by the character based on the music accompanying the dialogue. The role of the music is to help enhance the emotional experience while viewing the movie. Sounds trigger the emotions deeper than just words can trigger. When a deeper, more suspenseful sound takes over the scene, it is inevitable for a viewer to grow anxious for what is to come.

Music is shown to have a profound impact on the emotional experience felt by a listener, resulting in an association of music and emotion. The tone of a song is able to ignite specific emotions within people, and often times, that feeling of happiness.
Musicality is like math- it is the same in every country. It is a universal code, which creates the intensifying of emotions in human beings- one of which is happiness. Because it is the same in every language, music creates a common denominator for people everywhere. When opinions differ, and social issues change, music remains constant. It can be referred to as a science of some sort. As defined by Merriam- Webster, music is the:
“Art concerned with combining vocal or instrumental sounds for beauty of form or emotional expression, usually according to cultural standards of rhythm, melody, and, in most Western music, harmony. Music most often implies sounds with distinct pitches that are arranged into melodies and organized into patterns of rhythm and meter. The melody will usually be in a certain key or mode, and in Western music it will often suggest harmony that may be made explicit as accompanying chords or counterpoint. Music is an art that, in one guise or another, permeates every human society.
